A must stop when in Hill City. German cuisine and Amarican fare. Delicious, friendly and reasonably priced.

My first trip to SD and Keystone. The guy at the front desk recommended this establishment for dinner. What a beautiful, delicious, stunning experience. Tucked in Hill City about 15 minutes from Mt Rushmore, we were greeted by a breath taking atmosphere. Decorated for Christmas with elegance and grace. Two entree dishes to choose from: filet mignon, cooked with perfection and a spatlese primavera. Excellent beer and wine selections and the desserts, wow. Definitely worth the visit. Lunch is also served. Closed on Sundays. A rare and beautiful find.

Restaurant review: We were disappointed in the food and service. My filet mignon wrapped bacon sounded good, but was so fatty I was gagging. And my baked potato was so dry, I could hardly eat it. My hubby asked for a medium cook on his and it was rarer than mine.
I don't think our waitress smiled once.
After dinner, we were directed to go out to the hostess station to pay. It was there we were informed that the restaurant only accepted cash. There were no signs anywhere to prepare us for that. But, hey, there was an ATM machine right there. Ridiculous, right? We did find enough cash in our pockets to pay but only $1 or so for a tip. Sorry, not sorry.
Terrible experience.

We showed up at 5 and realized it was extremely busy. Got a pager and waited around the town. Well.. it was definitely worth the wait!! The filet mignon cooked to medium was exceptional along with a German OctoberFest brew and a Risata Moscato d’Asti wine (yum). Bring your appetite, the dessert options were amazing!! I had bread pudding drizzled with caramel and also tried the pumpkin strudel. The waitress was nice and efficient. Bring cash🤪

We visited the Alpine Inn restaurant for dinner based upon reviews and 'fine dining' European cuisine even though there are literally only two main dish menu items. One of which is said to be a filet mignon yet appeared to look & taste more like a filet of sirloin. The baked potato tasted as though it was baked in the morning and sat all day. The iceberg salad which accompanied the dish was a wedge of lettuce drowning in their homemade dressing. The other dish was Kaes Spaetzle Primavera which is German dumplings and swiss cheese topped with steamed vegetables. It was a slab of super salty, dried out mac & cheese stuck together topped with vegetables. To make the experience even worse, the hostess seating was a grumpy older woman that in no way made us feel like welcomed guests. The atmosphere itself was lovely and had the classic supper club vibe. That said, the ONLY delightful part of our evening was the bartender that has only been working there for a few weeks. She was out going, super accommodating and served with a genuine smile. Bravo to her! Really surprised by the high ratings of this restaurant. Would not recommend.

Alpine Inn is an epic restaurant of the Black Hills w its unique German food options. Lunch is amazing with German dishes, salads, and desserts. Steaks and salad for supper. They don't accept credit cards so bring some cash. Cool atmosphere, fast service.

Had dinner, 1hr 5 min wait on a mid October Saturday as expected. My daughter has celiac and the waitress was so careful to ensure she had a great gluten free meal, putting us at ease when noting when she washed her hands and which order she did things in. Thank you!

We did not actually get the opportunity to eat here, but want to pass on our experience to help others. This restaurant was recommended by the visitor’s center staff in Rapid City, so we picked up a brochure with serving times listed. We arrived 4:45 pm, 15” prior to their dinner service & were told that everything was full until at least 6 pm!! Unknown to us is that you need to arrive before 4 pm to get a pager to get service at 5 pm! Needless to say, we left & gave our business elsewhere.
Food and drinks: The food was AMAZING! Their schnitzel brought back memories of Germany! For the portions and food quality, I felt it was reasonably priced!
