Unfortunately this restaurant is closed. Looks like it could reopen any time, but for now we're out of luck.

The atmosphere is old west charm. The owner/host is warm and gracious. He makes you feel like an old friend come for dinner. Most importantly, the food is hands down the best I've had in the Black Hills!! Try the country fried steak dinner. You will be very glad you did. The BBQ ribs are also great. But, the country fried steak is the best. It's not a very large place, which makes it feel intimate and cozy. However, it can cause a bit of a wait for this popular place. DO NOT MISS DESPERADOS!

The place is closed but yelp hasn't been updated to keep you from wasting a trip. Please take the entry off the site.

Food was good. Help was another story. Plenty of seating and the waitress saw us, but took forever to be seated. Dirty dishes didn't get moved, food was just placed on the table and not given to us. Some proper training is in order there.

Great atmosphere, very clean and cozy. Good food and great service - we would certainly return.

Food was ok. I ordered the prime rib medium well and I got a thin but thick slice of prime rib. Nothing like in the pictures of other customers. It was ok but it did have a different taste to it than it normally has at other places. The baked potato was excellent! We also ordered a New York strip. It also had a different taste it it than normal. Prices were reasonable but the staff were walking about as if they were robots. No smile, no friendliness! We said "excuse me" to one girl 4 times in row before she even acknowledged us. Then we said "excuse me" to another robot girl 3 times in a row but she kept going. Same girl again twice more and she again she didn't stop. Wth! Who hired these girls? This is not customer service.

Our waitress Susan was wonderful. Had the pork brisket and my husband had the walleye. Both were outstanding. And the cookies made by the chef’s mom topped off a perfect meal.Dine in: Yes

Went to Desperados with 3 people. Ordered Walleye, and Two New York Steaks; because they were out of sirloin. The waitress forgot to serve us the Chili Fries we ordered. So we asked her to disregard.Once we got our plates, the sides were forgotten, and the “Medium” steaks were bleeding to the point the center was still cold from the fridge. The steaks were completely raw. (Photo attached)We pointed the cooking out, and the restaurant elected to take the steaks back to the kitchen. Keep in mind we are paying well over $20 per plate. Once the kitchen took the steak back, they returned it well done to the point it was almost charred. The waitress was nice. But the restaurant was very understaffed. The cook seemed very lousy. The price was very expensive and over the top for the service and quality of food.

Ordered "grilled" walleye and it came fried. When I let staff know they argued with me saying it was made on the griddle with oil. I had to flag them down again to take the plate because it was not grilled. They acted annoyed but took the dish. Another waitress came over to argue it again until I said it was greasy and fried, she rolled her eyes after saying it was made on a griddle with oil which is not grilled. The rest of the meal they ignored us and didn't offer and refills on drinks not even the water. As we were leaving they offered "homemade" cookies. Store bought and hard. They did nail the new york steak but the bison burger was red and undercooked. 2 out of 10.

I ordered NY strip medium. It was the biggest NY strip ever. Was cooked to perfection. The sweet potatoes fries were amazing. The food came really fast. The place is very quaint , very western. The service was very good. I ordered a beer and was very cold. The food was very hot like I like it. The dessert was amazing. But… that steak … was it great or what!

Home cooking meets a fancy 5 star gourmet restaurant. This place is a must if your coming to Mt. Rushmore. Whatever you order you will be amazed. Josh the chef / owner can do no wrong! Where did he go to school? The prime rib was impeccable, better than Lawry's. The sides were amazing, baked beans and mashed potatoes. Country gourmet cooking. What about the service, Susan you took care of us like mom would. She had the kids playing games and off the electronics for a change. The desserts all sounded so good that we orders one of each. Have to say we we're not disappointed. Walnut pie, bread pudding and warm mix berry cobbler with ice cream all made by mom ( Josh's m). Thanks to the staff for an unforgettable experience.

The walleye was delicious..just fair warning there are bones. The green beans and sweet tater fries were amazing, too! Our waitress was brand new and did a fantastic job. Definitely stop in for a great atmosphere and delicious food. ** the portions are large..my portion shows what I shared with my mama.

Great western themed restaurant. Good food, decent portion sizes, really good atmosphere and staff. Didn't want dessert but our waitress brought out fresh baked cookies on the house anyways.Prices are on the higher end. 11 dollars for a simple burger is a bit much, but I don't mind paying for the atmosphere and quality.

Amazing dinner tonight!!! Chicken fried steak was cooked to perfection and the Desperado Burger was the tastiest burger I have had in a long time. If you have a chance to order the berry cobbler get it! Best dessert we've had in a few years.

Desperados was recommended by two shopkeepers in town and did not disappoint. We both got the special and cheesecake for dessert. The portions were generous and the steak and sides were all homemade and excellent.
