Great little place to stay. I loved it!! See detailed comments under each topic.
For us, the main drawback was the parking. There is limited parking. If you're on motorcycles and don't want to leave them parked on the street, you have to get them in and out of a gravel parking lot that is offset a little from the street.
Rooms: This place is adorable! The room is not overly large, but certainly big enough. We stayed in the Bear Mountain Suite. If you can handle stairs, I highly recommend this room. You have the upstairs to yourself. I get up early and enjoy drinking my coffee and reading in the quiet before I start my day. There was a great little reading nook outside the room where I could enjoy the early mornings without disturbing my sleeping husband.
If you have children who are early elementary ages, they will love the play area outside the bedroom. Little loft with a 3 to 4 step ladder and a play area under the loft. Would not recommend this room if you have toddlers due to stairs.
The bathroom is nice sized with a jacuzzi tub. They do keep shampoo, conditioner, and bubble bath in the bathroom. And a blow dryer. I loved the deep, comfortable tub for soaking. Plenty of hot water. Unfortunately, the owners have to tell you where to flip the breaker downstairs to be able to use the air jets for the tub. This was one of the reasons I rated the room a 4 instead of a 5. Also, because there isn't a place to get ice. (But the owners filled my tumbler with ice water every morning when I went down for coffe.)
There is a fridge and microwave, coffee, teas, paper plates, plastic utensils, and paper towels.
No room service. Fresh towels upon request.
One other drawback is that the owners will likely not be checking you in. They will send you directions on how to get into your room and where to find the key. There was a little confusion with this because our email had the wrong suite name listed. But we got it figured out. That was my reason for a 4 on the service rating.
Nearby activities: Easy walk to train, shops, and restaurants. Centrally located to most Black Hills attractions. Very easy drive to Crazy Horse, Mt Rushmore, Keystone, and Bear Country USA.
Walkability: Easy walk to Main Street shops and restaurants. Next door to a great pizza place. Also, an easy walk to the 1880 train station (museum and train rides).
Food & drinks: Great little coffee shop attached to the inn. They're open 7 am - until 11 or 12? They serve filling breakfast burritos. It cost $21 for hubby and I to both have specialty coffees and burritos.
There is a patio with tables and chairs and grills for overnight guests to use.
Noteworthy details: Inside of the inn makes you feel like you're staying in a log cabin.

Very nice place to stay. The owners are very friendly and accommodating. Would definitely recommend!
We stayed here for 4 nights in the Bear Mountain Suite. We were made very welcome by Lisa and she was very helpful as we needed access to a phone. The suite was lovely and very cosy. It was completely themed with bears which was really cute from ornaments, pictures, soft toys, towels, shower curtain and the bed linen. There were plenty of supplies and there was a fridge, microwave etc. The bed was very comfortable and the shower was efficient. There was a nice little balcony area which was useful for storing cases. The location was excellent for shops and fooThere was parking right outside the suite and the doors all locked securely. I thoroughly recommend this place

We always stay in Hill City on visits to the Black Hills because it feels like a great jumping off point to all the things we want to do and see. This July we stayed here, in the Old Baldy Suite (highly recommend this for feeling like it's your own place on a longer stay), and Steve & Lisa were wonderful hosts. One of the unexpected pleasures was that they run a coffee shop in the front of the property and their experience in that industry shows. I'm not even a fan of coffee but on a 7-day stay found myself there every morning they were open except one (they are open M-Sa). Stay here. You'll get a great deal, especially in season when other prices are so crazy in the Black Hills, and you'll enjoy hosts who are down-to-earth and a pleasure to spend time with.

What a beautiful place! Mountain Peaks Inn definitely feels like your home away from home. Each room is immaculate, spacious, and stocked with everything you need for your stay. The owners, Steve and Lisa are readily available, quick to respond, and very knowledgeable about the area. A major bonus of staying here is the attached coffee shop - Caboose Coffee. You will find a friendly face working in this family owned and run business, whether it’s Steve, Lisa, or one of their children. Delicious coffee, smoothies, teas, freshly baked good, etc. await you as you as you step inside! It’s set in a convenient location to downtown Hill City and area attractions. I definitely recommend staying at Mountain Peaks Inn.

We had a great stay with Sam and Linda. They were so welcoming and helped us with whatever we needed. Loved our room as it had lots of space for everything. It was the room with the sliding glass door. Room contained everything one might need. Plus the location couldn’t have been more perfect. Hill City is a great little town that is easy to walk in. Oh and the room was spotless. Thznk you Sam and Linda!
Loved our room, comfy bed, coffee and very clean! Most of all, Sam the owner, was very informative with places to see and the history around Hill City. Would stay there again.

Super nice and helpful owners near the property. Very clean and well taken care of place. Great location as well
Very clean and comfortable bnb. Our accommodation had a queen bed And a single twin downstairs with a full bath. Upstairs in the loft was a double bed and a half bath Small kitchenette with microwave, Coffee maker, toaster and under the counter fridge. The sink was several steps away in the main room but very workable. The hosts were quite accommodating. He makes a mean latte. The hosts live onsite and run a small antique store.TV, wifi, a/c,Central to everything in Hill city
Cozy spot with some of the best smoothies I've ever had. All organic ingredients and the owner is incredibly friendly! Highly recommended.
This bed and breakfast is a wonderful home away from home. Both in terms of amenities and hospitality, the husband-and-wife owners do a perfect job of ensuring your stay is memorable in all the best ways.
