Recently, I embarked on a multi-week motorcycle journey across our beautiful country. One day, after braving the wind and rain, I found myself seeking refuge and something warm to drink. Initially, it seemed like just a small convenience store with limited options. However, the owner kindly invited me to the restaurant/pub side, which was actually closed at the time. Graciously, he offered me a hot meal and a drink.

This gesture led to a wonderful conversation about life, politics, travel, family, and various experiences. It was an enlightening discussion that not only allowed me to warm up and dry off but also left me with invaluable advice and a deeper understanding of this country, especially the complex and often difficult relationships with Native Americans.
