I love small town bars that have really great food. My buddy and I stopped here or their legendary fried Chicken for lunch on a Saturday. The weather was pretty terrible, but it was nice and warm inside. The beer was cold. And the food came out piping hot! Man. They might have the best chicken in South Dakota. Good enough that I would make the trip all 55 mi back to have it again. Service was great. People were really nice. Just a cool experience..

Amazing chicken fried steak . Real mashed potatoes and gravy. The chicken is some the best I have had in the 40 states and 4 counties I have visited. The bartenders made a nice drink too.

OMG I wish I would have taken a picture of my burger before eating it. It was the BEST burger I’ve had in a long time!

I’m here to give a major shout out to our server today despite our potato wedges being extremely overcooked.
She had a table next to us with a gal who was upset she had overcooked wedges, I was bummed too but I do believe it was all in the approach and overhearing the customer say “clearly I know how to cook” and then pointing to her overweight body. How condescending. I truly hope she comes here to leave her own review and reads mine. You sounded like a fool.
Two things.
If it was so bad, ask for replacements. Get over it. I just didn’t eat mine and enjoyed the food I did have that was delicious, yum.
Second, don’t belittle people. Don’t be rude. When our server offered this customer a $10 gift card for her experience the woman said “I’m never coming back” - I say good, good riddance.
This establishment has been open for close to 50 years, I’ve been coming here for almost 35 years since I was a child. Whenever I come to town, we go to Toby’s. The server did a great job handling the experience with the customer and was working her ass off. She took the belittling with grace and moved on.
Kudos to her. Today, she was appreciated, even if the broasted wedges were overcooked. 😊

Very cool place halfway between Yankton and Vermilion. Phenomenal burger and they have broasted potatoes, which a lot of places don’t do anymore. Very cool atmosphere.
