My lady and I ate at Delmonico for our one year anniversary. The whole experience was wonderful. I went in early to drop off flowers and meet the staff, including the server that would be taking care of us. Josh ended up being the gentleman waiting on us. He followed my instructions along with providing amazing service throughout the night. When we arrived the flowers were waiting on the table as requested. The staff all greeted us as we walked in. Josh and Jeremy even played along as I said I knew them. Beside this excellent treatment, the food was great. Starting off with the tenderloin tips and brussell sprouts packed with flavorful, sweetness. I paired the meal with a nice malbec. For the main course we split the ribeye for two. The steak was seasoned well and cooked just as requested. Added on the side was Oscar style, mushrooms, sweet mash potato, regular mash potato, asparagus, and seasonal veggies. To finish it all off the chocolate cake hit our table accompanied by the gift I asked Josh to hand to my date. A truly wonderful experience. No doubt in my mind that I will be back.
Steaks were cooked to perfection and all staff were friendly and attentive. I will be back next time I'm in the area
Good quality has gone downhill, as well as plate presentation. Steaks were plopped on a plate with no other anything at all. No garnishments. Baked potatoes served the same but served with a chunk of cold butter, couldn't hardly cut into the butter at all, and it made the lukewarm potato cold. Steaks came out cold as well and one was undercooked so they did put it on the grill which was great to have a warm steak. Fries were way too salty, and the vanilla ice cream at the end tasted like a skunk smelled. We brought it to the servers attention, and she did take it to the back and returned to report that they did taste it and that indeed, the entire batch of base was ruined and smelled like a skunk. Instead of removing it from the table, they brought a different kind of blueberry ice cream and that too tasted disgusting. We just let it sit and it became a runny sloppy mess in the dish and they sat at our table, not cleared away the rest of the night, as did other dirty dishes. The final insult: we ended up still paying for the ice cream lol. There was a back of the house tip cryptically put on the bill that wasn't explained, which was a bit annoying. Just be up front. All in all, it was disappointing that a restaurant who wants to charge the kind of prices Delmonico charges doesn't provide the food quality nor service to truly back it up. Maybe it's lack of training, not sure, but nonetheless, something needs to change.
Very nice restaurant, service very friendly. We sat upstairs and enjoyed the ambiance. We chose this steakhouse because they served bison as well
Great dinner.... Caesar Salad was fresh and tasty! The Bison Filet and loaded baked potato were great! The Chocolate Mousse cake was awesome! The only drawback was no liquor! Kyle was a perfect server!
Amazing!! Everything was truly fabulous & the service is beyond words- we will be back!! Extensive wine list & food is incredible!!
Hard to believe that this restaurant is in Rapid City. It is casual but the food is fantastic. My wife and I ate there for lunch and dinner. My wife said the hamburger she had for lunch, and the chicken she had for dinner, was the best she ever had. We live in L.A., so that's saying something. I had a burrata salad for lunch which was was excellent. I had the angus beef (filet mignon) for dinner and it was among the best I've ever had. I like my staek medium well and butterflied, and the chef made it perfectly. Also, our servers (Leslie for lunch, and Mikeala for dinner) were friendly, knowledgeable and were a pleasure to deal with. All in all, a first rate experience and I highly recommend it.
The food is wonderful. Everything ala carte. Service very poor for the price. We are repeat local customers who usually come 2 times per year. Will reconsider next time.
When I made my dinner reservation, they asked me if we were celebrating anything special and I mentioned that we were celebrating an anniversary. When we checked in, there was no mention we were celebrating something special, nor did any mention of our anniversary come out at any time during our dinner. Why bother asking if you don't want to acknowledge that we're celebrating something special! Personally, I don't give a damn, but I'm trying to make this dinner special for my wife by the restaurant recognizing we are celebrating our anniversary, and it didn't happen!! Disappointing Lastly, we poured our own wine other than the first tasting we did when our waiter opened the bottle. Service was so so by our waiter but excellent from the rest of the staff!! Food was excellent!!
Our night at Delmonico's was wonderful from start to finish. Josh was our server and he was friendly, knowledgeable and attentive. He was patient as we took our time to decide what to eat. The food was exquisite; tender filet deliciously seasoned and cooked perfectly. The pork tenderloin was a delicious meal with unexpected flavor pairings. The Good Steer was a phenomenal experience that put all other burgers to shame. A wonderful meal to celebrate America's birthday, and to bring our vacation to a close.

We came to Delmonico Grill while visiting the area, and ended up coming back the very next night — that alone should tell you something. The food was absolutely top-tier. The bison steak was cooked perfectly, rich and flavorful without being heavy. The sea bass was equally impressive — delicate, buttery, and expertly prepared. What really made this place stand out, though, was the team. Ashley, the GM, clearly runs a tight ship. Both nights we were served by Josh and Caleb, and they were incredible — warm, attentive, and on top of every detail. Here's the part that blew us away: On our first visit, we asked for still bottled water, which they didn't carry. No big deal. But when they found out we were returning the next night, they actually went out and bought bottled still water just for us. That kind of thoughtfulness reminded us of the mindset described in Unreasonable Hospitality by Will Guidara — the idea that going the extra mile creates truly memorable experiences. Delmonico Grill gets that. Highly recommend this place if you care about both what's on the plate and the people serving it. We'll be talking about this place for a long time.
What a wonderful treat. We had the prime rib for two and it was outstanding. Happy to have some leftover for our night of camping! My husband had the crab cake which was very tasty and I enjoyed the wedge salad. Make sure you save room for dessert, the Butterscotch Pots De Crème was a confectionery delight!
First time in the state of South Dakota and Delmonico's delivered. Perfect ambience for a steak house, very classy. My son savored your bison steak for the first time and now he's spoiled for life! Where will he ever enjoy bison as much as he did last evening? The special on Friday evening of cold gazpacho soup was a also a treat. Brandes, our server, was knowledgeable about Delmonico's menu and made excellent suggestions to us—especially that Oregon pinot noir bottle Brandes recommended. I'll definitely recommend Delmonico's to fellow travelers to Rapid City, South Dakota. Bravo, Delmonico's!
Was hoping for a traditional steak house environment. This was nice but not steakhouse vibe, such as darker table tops and linens, mood lighting, art etc. food was good. The French onion soup is about the best I have ever had!
Server was amazing. Food was just ok. Not worth the big price tag for the steak. Baked potato was undercooked. Cream brûlée however was amazing!
