We loved our stay here! Amazing customer service, beautiful location, and comfortable cabins in multiple sizes! We will be back!
We brought our trailer up from Utah and stayed at this beautiful campground. It was by the creek and everything was just gorgeous. Garrett was accommodating and kind. We loved this place. Now the weather didn’t cooperate and the snow and below freezing temps were sure a pain. However, our little trailer was warm thanks to the full hook-ups and we also enjoyed hot showers in our trailer. I highly recommend Horse Creek Resort they have cabins and other resources if you’re not wanting to camp.
No water when we arrived and staff on site came right over and fixed it right away nice central location of the Black hills
Horse Creek Resort is one of the most beautiful resorts in the Hills. The place is truly special.
The old school cabin was absolutely perfect! Wish we could have stayed for more than one night. Garret was extremely helpful and accommodating. The cabin and the whole property is beautiful. I will recommend this spot to all my friends who travel. Do yourself a favor and book a cabin at Horse Creek. Very close to all of the good stuff in this area. Thank you Horse Creek!
Hello! If you are ever in the Black Hills area and looking for the perfect spot to stay look no further than Horse Creek Resort! We stayed in the historic, 100 year old log cabin on the property and it was a wonderful home away from home for us. It’s centrally located to everything you want to see and do in the Black Hills, it was quiet and felt very safe. Garrett was very attentive to anything we could ever need. He made sure everything was working properly and was always quick to respond to any questions we had. One of the best hosts ever! I wouldn’t hesitate to stay here again. It sounds like he will be busy this fall with even more renovations on the cabin etc. I can’t wait to come back and see it again! Thanks for sharing your lovely resort with all of us Garrett!

This RV park is perfection! It is quiet, surrounded by Evergreen trees and nature. It’s not far from Sheridan Lake and other attractions such as bear country USA, Mount Rushmore and Keystone. The owner was beyond accommodating and nice. He was working hard on the property the whole time we were here making improvements. Not that there’s much to improve, but he has a vision and he’s working hard to achieve it. he even went out of his way to stop by our RV to welcome us and when we first got here and sent us a text when we left wishing us a safe trip. Hands-down, this is the best RV park in the area and we can’t wait to visit again!

I love staying at Horse Creek Resort. This is my second year visiting the Black Hills and staying at this location. It always feels like a home away from home!! I can't say enough wonderful things about the owners and how they care for the property! They deserve a 10 out 10!

We’ve camped here 2 years in a row - mainly in a space by the creek. This resort always feels like our second home. The owner, (Garret) goes above and beyond to help make sure your stay is comfortable. Beautiful surroundings, and the entire property is extremely well taken care of. Lovely touches such as hanging flowered pots on every cabin and gazebos, fire pits at each site, onsite firewood, a newly added hair and nail salon, restaurant and small store selling a few necessities including local artists creations. Very quiet and far enough from the highway.
When we’re in the Black Hills, Horse Creek Resort is the only place we’ll camp!

I can not say enough amazing things about this campground! The property/land is beautiful and exactly what you would want for a Black Hills Escape. The owner greeted us as we were setting up our fifth wheel to make sure we loved our spot. I made a note that it was our anniversary trip when booking and he acknowledged that. We were in site #1 with our 39’ trailer and F350 with plenty of space. Thank you, Garret, for your hospitality.

We stayed in tiny cabin #7 and it was a perfect getaway. Camp hosts were awesome. Most of the time when we camp we only ever see the hosts during check in but they made sure we had everything we needed. Horse Creek was located between a lot of fun areas which made it easy to explore them all! Definitely will stay again.

We had a great time camping here. Beautiful views. We stayed in our own camper in an upper slot but there are also great cabins too. Garrett and the neighbors were all friendly and helpful. We plan to come back again sometime.

My family as well as my parents chose Horse Creek Resort after researching heavily and combing through reviews of the numerous resorts and hotels in and around the Keystone/Hill City/Mt. Rushmore area and I tell you what Horse creek Resort did not disappoint! We stayed in cabin 2 which was the perfect size for my young family with 2 kids as well as my parents and our dog. The cabin was exactly what the photos showed and as a family with 2 small kiddos I loved that the king room had a Murphy bed we could put down at night to make sure our kiddos were comfortable and felt safe away from home. The resort is conveniently located shortly outside of hill city and truly gives you an experience. the grounds are relatively quiet and the overall "vibes" were very much R&R so if you are looking for a rowdy time this may not be for you, its a quiet resort and it was great feeling very safe letting our kids ride their bikes around the cabin loop. We also brought our German shorthair as the resort is dog friendly and it was a breeze keeping him, he did have to be leashed during our stay which was challenging with him being such a high energy dog the only cherry on top would have been if they had a fenced in area for dogs to run and play for a bit but we were able to manage during our stay. The cabin itself was extremely clean, and well stocked the only thing we had to run out and buy was some tin foil! The little cafe/store/bar at the top of the hill is full of local artist tchotchkes and little bits like farm fresh eggs and fresh breakfast so you don't have to ever really meander far into town if you don't want to! The resort is only a few miles away from a beautiful lake and is tucked away off the highway. The couple who runs the resort were extremely hospitable and were regularly by to see if anyone needed anything or to water the flowers. Over all I give South Dakota a 10/10 family friendly experience and will forever tally friends and family to visit Horse Creek Resort. We are planning on making this stay and annual trip

Great location for home base while we visited the area. Very quiet and peaceful, which is our kind of place. Garret is a wonderful host and very responsive. Glad I made this choice!
