I can't say enough about this magical place! I was nervous about booking blindly in unfamiliar territory. The location is ideal. 6 National Parks, with The Badlands being the furthest at almost 2 hrs.Garrett was extremely kind and helpful. The whole property is spotless. Definitely take time to do a hike out the back gate. A Tip.... Garret has quarters for laundry :). As far as comments about the bathrooms, perfectly adequate, clean but don't expect The St.Regis!

Great place to stay in the Black Hills. Quiet, peaceful, beautiful, right next to Sheridan Lake and nearby Pactola Lake, lots of fishing paddle boarding and boating opportunities. Fun mix of cabins/sizes, RV sites and tent sites. The owner takes great care of the property and is very accommodating to guests. Our family has stayed here multiple times, and little improvements over the years keep making it better and better. Thank you, Horse Creek resort!

We loved our stay at Horse Creek! The cabins are awesome -clean, charming and cozy with updated furnishings. The property grounds are very peaceful and secluded - but the location is close to so many of the fun amenities the Black Hills has to offer. The owners are super helpful and accommodating. Can't wait to go back again!

I almost hate to say how awesome this resort is because I want to keep it for myself. Lol.
But I love it so much I have to share. This is my 2nd year here camping an extended stay. Its a beautiful, quiet, private setting surrounded by the black hills forest. A charming creek running through it that my dogs just love! Quaint bridges over the creek lead you to a field with a gate that opens to a plethora of trails for hiking & biking.
Garret, the owner, is extremely accommodating & considerate of his client needs. He'll go above and beyond to make sure youre comfortable. He definitely has for me.
He's created a magical little world hidden away from the hustle & bustle but still accessible to goings on of the area.
It feels like home to me. 🄰🄰🄰

Stayed here for a week and it was awesome! The cabins are super cute and cozy and the whole place is really pretty, especially with the creek running through it. It’s quiet but still close to a bunch of cool spots in the Black Hills. The Wi-Fi was good, everything was clean, and the owners are super nice! Honestly just a really beautiful place to stay, will definitely be back!

Please pay your employees an actual wage instead of asking for volunteers.

We stayed in the Tiny Cabin #7, August, 2025. The place is a mix of cute, crowded, kinda cool, and horrible. It’s a campground, RV park, tiny cabin lot, mobile home park, and nail spa all mixed together. It feels like living a rural inner city housing project. The real shortcoming of our cabin was the lack of hot water. $140 a night ($40 cleaning fee +$30 for our dog) for no hot water and community showers just doesn’t feel like a value. It lacks the comfort of a Hampton Inn and lacks the joy of camping too. Not our thing. I’d rather sleep in a WalMart parking lot.

Fantastic place for camping & brining kids really friendly staff super clean amenities made amazing privacy and quietness, even during the rally. Awesome hanging flower baskets tons of hummingbirds a nice creek in the back and swallows nests everywhere. In the back too, there's a ATV trails and also hiking trails right in the national Forest. Close to Keystone dead one in Rapid City and right next to Sheridan Lake and Pactola Lake. Staff is super helpful and they even help you back in your RV spot. Highly recommend 10 out of 10 stars if I could.

This was a great experience, our cabin was cute and clean. The owner was responsive to our needs, and location was great! Close to all the attractions, but far enough away to not feel ā€œtouristy.ā€ We definitely will come back here to stay.

This campground is by far the nicest we have stayed in the last 2 months of travel. The rv sites are spacious, various sized cabins that are super clean/nice, and beautiful grounds to pitch a tent, walk around, and enjoy.
The Owners were super cool and easy going. Definitely would recommend and will be back!

Cabin was everything promised in our June booking and the scenic location was beautiful. Our first family vacation in two years picked the perfect place to call our vacation home. Thank you for the great time!!
