Let's start with the positives. When I left, I was happy...

If you're in to 8 Oz $10 shakes, this is the place for you! If you're in to eating within an hour and a half of when you're hungry, this is not the place for you. If you're going for breakfast, plan on lunch. To their credit, they let us watch SpongeBob on TV. To their detriment, we had to watch 4 episodes before we got our food.

Now for the negatives. We only got one refill of a $4 coke. The drink sat empty for at least one episode of SpongeBob (including commercial breaks).

As for atmosphere... it felt like a walk-in refrigerator. No wonder the other booths were empty. It was like an ice age wasteland in there. The lack of people didn't keep them from taking an hour to get our food, which was lackluster at best. Even in the arctic air, we were somehow still warmer than our food.

In conclusion, Philips Avenue Diner is great for SpongeBob, but terrible for food or atmosphere or anything you usually find in good restaurants.

This is a classic place in downtown Sioux Falls that actually burned down a few years ago and they came back stronger than ever. This is classic Midwestern food. I can’t tell you enough the level of happiness. I felt just eating such good comfort food get the roast beef or the French dip they’re both amazing, I wish I could tell you about other things on the menu but that’s all that I order because it’s so delicious. don’t forget about the desserts

Vegetarian options: I mean, you can get a salad I’m sure but this is classic Midwestern meat and potatoes, hot roast beef sandwich type place.

This place had such good breakfast. We both got the banana bread french toast and swapped out regular syrup for strawberry syrup and it was AMAZING. Literal slices of banana bread turned into french toast. Super friendly staff, got our food quickly as well. Definitely recommend.

I HAD A TERRIBLE EXPERIENCE WITH THIS PLACE, and I was so excited to try it. Been wanting to check this place out for years and I finally did only to be let down. I wanted a turkey blt in a wrap instead of a sandwich and the waitress informed me they couldn’t do that but could do the southwest chicken wrap instead and substitute the chicken for turkey but there’d be a upcharge. I said that was fine. She brings me my food in a timely matter only for it to be a blt wrap. When I asked her where the turkey was, she said I didn’t order that. When she’s the one who suggested what I should order and I agreed. She was very rude and didn’t fix my order. I ended up not eating it, and she still made me pay. I’ll never go there again, extremely let down ):
