This place is a mom and pop style Mexican restaurant, 100% amazing food. This place makes their own tortillas let me tell you about flavor! Very clean inside and in the kitchen. This is a must try if you are close to the downtown area!

The Turpido was incredibly satisfying, reminiscent of a Hispanic cheesesteak. Please note, Tortilleria Hernandez only accepts cash payments.

Any taqueria that makes tortillas in house is worth checking out. This place is no exception. I had a few asada tacos, and it was as good as any number of spots that serves similar food in Phoenix that I've been to. Very simple menu as well, but simplicity works in this case. The caveats are that it's cash only, and there's literally two chairs in there to sit while you wait for your order. Definitely a little mom and pop atmosphere, but the quality of the food makes it worth it.

Great tacos. Diet Coke was expired in September 2023, all of them. so they are flat. No place to sit.

I stopped on Saturday Not knowing they were closing at 2:00 and I got there at 1:58. I had no idea they were closing at 2:00 and he still made my steak. Torpedo which is my absolute favorite. It's always so good. Steak is tender and it's very filling. I could get two meals out of it. Menu is small. Maybe four or five items. But you can still get other things there. No dining inside.

My My wife, knowing I love little authentic restaurants, took me to Hernandez to go. Sounds as authentic Mexican as you can get. It's a very small place, basically a lunch to go deal. They had 3 people working that were very helpful. A fridge filled with drinks from Mexico. A stack of tortillas they make in house. We order some chicken and steak tacos. The food was ready in 5 mins. The food was good. Chicken was dry, but the homemade tortillas and the sauce were really tasty. When combined with a price of $2.50 a taco that is stuffed full, this place is a great go-to for a quick lunch. I'll definitely be back for the burrito. Make sure you bring cash, no cards accepted!
