We googled and planned to have our date night at Roots. We arrived at 5:15 to an empty restaurant and were told there were many reservations, which is not stated on the site to make a reservation. We probably could have been in and out before the next reservation. We drove from the northwest end of the city to try. Disappointing. They lost a sale..

Roots Kitchen and Bar in Harbour Landing offers a delightful dining experience. The menu features fresh, locally sourced ingredients, with creative dishes that burst with flavor. The welcoming atmosphere and attentive staff enhance the experience, making it perfect for both casual meals and special occasions. Highly recommended for food lovers!

Pleasant space but food was cold, and the coffee left on the heat too long and bitter. 2nd try on this place because I wanted to like it.

The meat was overcooked, and the fries were stale. Don't recommend...

Food is good, parking is a nightmare though

OMG!! Great food.

I've been here at least 5 times now, and the food is just money.
Recently had their crabcakes eggs Benny... probably the best eggs Benny I've had in my life. SO good!
Steak sandwich is good, burgers are good... I think my.mother in-law had the fish once, and even that was good.

1 star for parking though... man, you can't get parking there during the summer, and during the winter it's twice as bad.

Other than that, you gotta go! The food is outstanding.

Kid-friendliness: I think kids est free one day per week... not bad!

Recently visited this restaurant for dinner and had a mixed experience. On the positive side, the fish tacos were good — flavorful and well-seasoned. Another plus was the speed of service.

Unfortunately, there were several drawbacks. The atmosphere felt off. It was too bright, giving the place a slightly sterile vibe, and the music was so faint you could barely hear it, making it uncomfortably quiet. But most importantly the food: my ribs tasted old, the salad was dull and fries were not crunchy.

We came to Roots for brunch with family and best friends some weeks ago and everything is wonderful. I like the warm and cozy atmosphere, and the staffs are great. The restaurant seems like always high-demand on weekend so we have to wait for a bit but it worths. We tried almost the menu by sharing each dish together. The foods are very tasty and portion are large. Will definitely come again.

I dined at this restaurant the 21st of november around past 2pm and, unfortunately, had a disappointing experience with both the service and food quality.

When placing my order, the server asked which side I would like with my meal. I inquired about the soup of the day, and she had to leave to check with the kitchen as she didn’t know what it was. Upon returning, she informed me it was lentil soup. While I’m not a huge fan, I was open to trying it given the cold weather, so I asked her opinion, saying, “Is it good?” To my surprise, she responded with a dismissive attitude, saying, “I don’t know, I just started my shift.” This unprofessional and abrupt response was disappointing and left a poor impression.

Additionally, we noticed the same server chit-chatting with her co-workers nearby, openly complaining about a colleague. While they were busy with their personal conversation, another customer was waiting at the cashier and clearly needed assistance. The customer had to say, “Excuse me,” after waiting for an unreasonably long time before being acknowledged.

When our soups finally arrived, mine was cold, and my friend’s soup (tomato & basil) was overly sour. While the restaurant did replace our soups, the entire experience left us feeling uneasy and frustrated—it felt like the day just wasn’t going right in the restaurant.

I had originally planned to order coffee, dessert, and a sandwich to go for my husband, but by this point, I had completely lost faith in the service and quality and decided against it. Finally, as we were leaving after paying, the server gave a half-hearted “Have a good day” while turning around and walking away, which felt dismissive and insincere.

This place was a gem, we dropped in on a Sunday, it was very busy. Staff worked hard to keep up and service was very good. Kitchen was a little slow but worth the wait. Meals top notch well presented and thought out. Folks living in the neighbourhood are fortunate to have this restaurant handy.

This was my go to for years and I tried to keep this my place although I'm done. It's just not what it was at all anymore which was my favorite spot to grab breakfast when in Regina.

Sad.
