Fast food buffet. Not many healthy choices

Place needs updated, straight out of the 80's. Dirty run down
Food was very mediocre. I get it, its a buffet, but was not appetizing and of poor quality. Our waitress was very nice and provided great service.

We had friends in from out of town and needed a large area for all the people we had. They gave us the banquet room which was perfect. Our server Valerie was absolutely fantastic. She handled everything beyond our expectations. The buffet was kept well stocked and the food was excellent. After our meal the manager on duty, I didn't get his name, came by to thank us for our business. It was a very professional and friendly gesture that many restaurants would not have done. Thank you to the entire crew on shift Friday 5/23/25 at 4 to 530 pm. Your efforts were noticed and appreciated. We will be back as small groups and large groups.

The general Mgr is hopeless and helpless. I went into the restaurant today to pick up breakfast to go. I wanted 2 pancake breakfast. Comes with 2 pancakes, 2 eggs, choice of meat(bacon or sausage) and breakfast potatoes. When I got there I told them I wanted to add another order of sausage and a small side of gravy to put on my potatoes. Then I got my ticket and the total is $48.96. That seemed totally wrong and over priced but I paid and got a receipt. The receipt says they are charging me $11 twice for the two meals and then $2.99 for each pancake. So the pancakes alone come out to like $13.50. Just 4 pancakes. Then I see a charge of 3.99 for a bowl of gravy. Which I didn't ask for. I wanted a small souffle cup of gravy. Like a couple tablespoons to put on my potatoes. So my server asks if I need to speak to a manager so I tell him yeah that's fine. Figured it was just a simple mixup and he'd fix it. He refused to fix it. Set that he didn't make up the prices. So it's not his fault. When clearly they had charged me wrong. I was forced to leave without my pancakes or my gravy cuz he refused to fix the receiptwhen they clearly charged me wrong. Instead of paying attention and looking at the receipt in realizing that I was charged wrong. So look prices have already gone up crazy and the mgr does not make those prices and I understand that but that was not the issue. The problem was that instead of charging me for two pancake breakfasts. They charged me for two egg breakfasts and then tried to charge me separately for each pancake. Then tried to sell me a whole bowl of gravy like it was soup for $3.99 when I asked for a small side. That is why this location is so dead all the time. Oh and don't waste your time going there for the buffet because it is so dead they never put fresh food on the bar. Daily food on the bar for hours under the heat lamps and it's all garbage. Just because you guys are making enough business and you're having to throw more food away does not give you the right to sell us old outdated food because of food costs that you don't want to lose. The last thing that I brought up with the manager was the fact that they have omelets on their menu and they say they don't make him anymore and haven't made him since covid but they're still on the menu.4 years later and the refuse to honor their own menu. The only thing he kept saying is it's not his problem not his fault that I need to talk to corporate. The company needs to rethink who they hire as managers at this restaurant because it's destroying your business. That man could have easily rang up my ticket to fix their mistake but he refused too and let me leave without half of my food. I was forced to give back the food I already had and got a refund cause I'm not paying $18 for 4 pancakes and a small side of gravy. If it was just the case that shoney's had raised their prices too much and that's all I'd be saying but it's clearly a manager problem.

The food hasn't been that good lately, but customer service is always great. IMHO they need a better cook.

My only complaint is that the biscuit i had for their breakfast bar was hard as a rock. They eventually brought out new biscuits and they were edible. They need a new way to keep those biscuits fresh. Everything else is great.

Shoney's has good food for a fair price and they have good service. I would like to see them update the items on the hot bar and have some new and different items.

The service was good, but the food was horrible. Everything at the salad bar looked and tasted like it had been sitting out for 8 hours. Fries were stale. Hot food was crusted and dry. Beans didn’t like they’d been stirred for hours.

I also ordered a burger and requested to have no bun. It came out as a patty on a plate. That’s it. No condiments. No toppings. Just a well done patty.

On the side was some shredded lettuce. I’m not quite sure how that was supposed to be my “bun”. If they didn’t have leafs of lettuce, she should’ve just told me. They don’t ask how you want the burger done.. it seems “extra well done” is the only option.

Would not recommend.
