The cook had a bad day, and I've been there as a line cook for many restaurants. No penalty. Lol. The staff was very friendly and you could tell they are pretty tight knit. I didn't even realize the hot food buffet when I walked in like a dumby, so I ordered from the menu (which offered a variety of meals if you're being picky that day) but it looked and smelled legit. Prices were fair, the restaurant and bathroom was clean. Honestly, you need to go eat here. Super easy I-75 on/off.

Service is good, food average. No senior discount. Food bar is overpriced. Steak house down the road is equally good, less expensive, and offers senior discount. Wish I'd gone there...

If you are going to up the prices at a buffet, the least you could do is make sure the food is better quality. The gravy was nearly gone the entire 45min I was there during dinner-time and it was nearly completely congealed. The ribs were over-drenched in barbecue sauce for no reason. The salad bar was nearly room temperature to the point where the jello was soup.

Food and trash all over the floors. Buffet plates with food on the buffet. Bacon was cooked this morning and then slightly reheated and served. All of the servers were on their phones not cleaning or picking up. The corn had a hair and the server removed the hair and took the corn to the back.

Uncomfortably Hot! Unbelievably too hot to have to work in this building. The temperature is 81 in the dining room. Service was understandably unpleasant, but they're here.Shoney's should do better for their employees and customers.

I come here 4-5 times a week. The people are nice the food is good. I love my favorite server Carlissa. She is always professional, very kind and always has a smile on her face to everyone. She keeps the restaurant atmosphere in high spirits and as a person who lives alone I choose to come here so often Bc of her sweet personality and the food is good. Please let her know she is appreciated and you have a great employee there. Servers like her are extremely rare!

Buffet going on so it was busy. Kudos to the staff for managing to professionally deal with all the grumpy people that forgot their manners after leaving church this morning.Despite a lengthy wiatlist, it was a short wait for a table, then very quick service. Fries and chicken fried steak were a bit bland. Turkey club was perfect.

Service was not good at all, food was delicious, tried sitting us at a dirty table and food all over the floor. Then spilled coke all over my leg and we didn't even order coke, waited for straws until half way through our meal and I went and got some, never checked to see if we needed refills. People waiting with empty tables. All waiters were all behind counter talking.

Stopped at Shoney's in Athens TN this morning for a quick breakfast. Should have kept on going towards home The buffet was cold, and not very good. But the cleanliness was what got to me. The place is filthy.. Floors sticky, tables unkept and the ladies room was disgusting. I understand about short staffing and being busy but this place is way past just this mornings dirt. Never again..
Going down hill. We're locals and go for the Thursday evening breakfast bar. We hadn't been in a couple of months, so we decided to go last Thursday 4-14. You could tell from the time we walked in that something had changed. No one seemed to want to seat us. Workers were huddled in a group behind the bar. One was on her cell phone. Didn't appear to be a manager around. Finally we got seated, and since it's a buffet, there's not much for us to be served but drinks and that went ok. After a short period, someone who appeared to be a manager came out and talked to what seemed like good friends or family for quite a while. All the time there were multiple empty tables with dirty plates, food on the floor under the tables, and no one seemed to be concerned. Again on 4-21 we went back and saw much of the same thing. No one seemed to want to seat us. Waited for about 5 minutes to be waited on, and when we requested something additional, it was forgotten on multiple occasions. Did get a water refill after I was finished eating. There just doesn't seem to be any managing going on. All the workers just seemed to be working on their own, and not as a team. Hope this is helpful and not meant for criticism, but we're taking a month off and see if anything changes.

Nasty building, the cook is very scruffy and dirty he actually stands near the buffet coughs with no cover up. This was after I see him enter the back door with a nasty cigarette stands there puffing and flips out the door. Not even a visit to the hand sink to wash. NASTY!!!!

It was ok really not a good choice on bar soup beans greens pulled pork was dry green beans were not done.Tables were not being cleared or cleaned workers were more concerned with arguing over whom was to clean bathrooms results ended with one crying one asking if they needed to take it outside. All of this in dinning area. Not sure we will be back to this shoneys
