After seeing a lot of reviews and recommendations for this place we decided to get a scoop after we visited the incline railway. As an icecream connoisseur I wasn't impressed. The butter pecan was lack luster and tasted more like plain vanilla. The highlight was the cake cone was fresh! Service was great and friendly. It was colder than most icecream places and extremely small inside with very little room to stand in line. We enjoyed ours outside under the covered patio.

Fantastic ice cream and customer service.Note: To the parents of the year who decided to push through everyone with your two kids while we were still being helped because you can't wait 3 minutes for the staff to make an ice cream cone and your time is more important than everyone else, I hope this finds you. Not only did you push past everyone waiting to see what flavors you wanted and ordered before others who were there way before you, you then decided to eat your ice cream on the steps outside blocking people from using them. What are you teaching your kids? I suggest having a little self awareness and thoughtfulness to other people so we can all enjoy things. The world doesn't revolve around you.

We were in the St. Elmo's neighborhood for dinner and were excited to see a Clumpies across the street. We were visiting Chattanooga for the weekend and had heard that Clumpies was a Chattanooga favorite. This location is at the base of the incline at Lookout Mountain which is super convenient for those people riding up/down the mountain. We arrived about 5pm and the young ladies behind the counter were very friendly and welcoming. There had approximately 20 ice cream flavors including butter pecan, chocolate, vanilla bean, peppermint patty and strawberry chocolate cheesecake. The young ladies were happy to provide us samples which were served on small metal spoons which was a nice touch. My wife decided on the Myers Lemon Ginger ice cream on a waffle cone. The others in our group ordered two flavors in a dish. We loved our selections and enjoyed them alot, great experience!

After hiking around Lookout Mountain, it was time for ice cream. Clumpies came highly recommended - we actually tried to go the previous day to the Southside location, but we didn't realize it opened late at 3PM. This day, however, we would not be deterred and dropped by the location next to the Incline. Double ($5.99) - We chose two seasonal flavors for our double - Red-Berry Chocolate Cheesecake and White Chocolate Peppermint Bark. The former was studded with smashed cookies and a delightful fruity berry swirl. There was enough swirl to impart its flavor, but not enough that the ribbon was noticeably icy. The latter has a mild peppermint white chocolate taste and has small pieces of white chocolate, peppermint pieces and bark mixed in. Both were great. The quality of the ice cream base really comes through - it's super creamy and dense with low overrun. The ice cream has no ice crystals whatsoever to speak of and stays intact quite well without melting, showing just how high the quality is. Clumpies sure has some great ice cream! I would definitely visit again next time I'm in Chattanooga.

Picked up a cookies and cream ice cream sandwich, it was kinda bland. I had planned to get a scoop or two, but the ice cream wS being scraped down into the tubs and didn't look very appealing. I did get a $10 pint out of the cooler to go and haven't tried it yet.

Always friendly, today the workers were spectacular!Upon return with a group of people this year, they had removed the BUY 1 get 1 50% option that other locations have, website did allLocations, they have since removed that. Disappointing! They were not very nice about the discrepancy online stating all locations either

The seasonal ice creams were not worth the calories. We got the pumpkin cheesecake and apple strudel type ice creams and it's weird to say but they were dry. The ratio of ice cream to treat were way off. I wanted to go back for a more basic flavor but they were closed :( Service was ok, no offer of taste test even though we asked a million questions of the flavors, the people behind us must of known just to ask for sample tastes.

Located right next to the Incline Train ride, Clumpies has a lock on the ice cream business in town! The ice cream is super creamy & flavorful, without being overly sweet. I had a kiddie cup of espresso chocolate chunk, and my cousin had the pumpkin caramel & the espresso chunk. She did say she didn't taste much pumpkin, but it was still good. Friendly service & a clean area rounded out the visit. Great place to grab a scoop while you wait for your ride!
