Highly recommend NOT going here. My friend and I were in town for a quick weekend trip and we went to Fonda San Jose thinking it would be great.. we were wrong. The first red flag was that we went on a Friday night at 6:30pm and there were maybe 3 tables filled in the entire restaurant. Looking back now, we should have seen that as a bad sign but we were trying to be hopeful. The cheese dip appetizer was absolutely disgusting and we ended up sending it back. The waiter was very sweet and removed it from our bill. Unfortunately, halfway through our meal, my friend and I BOTH started feeling sick to our stomach’s. I ordered a beef taco and a shredded chicken taco. My friend had the Birria tacos. I’m 100% positive we got food poisoning. The only positive stars that I can give is for the service because our waiter was nice. The food was trash. ?️

We are visiting from Florida and OMGOSH this was a great find. From the service.. our waitress was amazing and couldn’t have asked for any better… to the food which was drool worthy… I have all good things to say. Sangria was delicious, birria tacos top notch, and chicken quesadillas were fantastic!

This place was amazing! The atmosphere was fun and chill, the waitress was very kind and kept up a fun conversation. The food was excellent! I got the ground beef nachos and they were delicious, honestly some of the best I've had! The salsa though was the highlight of meal. It was the perfect balance of sweet and spicy.

I cannot say enough good things about this place. I had a margarita that was very good, cheese dip that was great (of course), and carne asada that was phenomenal. Omkar noticed I was checking the football scores and turned on the game without me even having to ask! The bar chairs are very comfy, and to top it all off, the music selection is just next level - it’s like Mexican Alan Parsons Project!

I was traveling to Chattanooga for my 40th birthday and was looking for a restaurant to cater my for a small house party. Fonda San Jose was the best. They were very responsive, stayed within my budget and gave me several options to customize my taco bar. And best of all the tacos were so tasty!! 10/10 recommend Fonda San Jose!! And will definitely be back next time we are in town!

I got a regular margarita, but husband got a Mezcalita and it was so much better than the regular margarita. Birria Tacos were stuffed with beef. Yum! Husband got the chicken taquitos. He ate them all. We're passing thru, but if we were to come back, we'd definitely stop by again. Would love to try their Enchilada Birria. Service was great.

We had my daughters 22nd birthday dinner here. They went above and beyond to make our night special for my daughter. The food is authentic Mexican and really delicious. The staff was warm and welcoming. We will definitely be coming back.
