Ordered online for my mother who is elderly and shut in and saw a place to pay using a gift card. So I followed the link for the gift card to Toast, who manages Herman's POS system and website ; I purchased a gift card then entered the gift card at the website. The food purchase showed paid and stated to pick it up. When I arrived at the restaurant, the person at the front told me I would have to pay for my order. I explained that I made the purchase online, but they were hearing none of it. How do you allow a company to handle your website and point-of-sale system but not honor its payments. The company toasttab (toast.org) stated that the purchase could only be reversed through the Herman's POS system since the electronic check had already already been deposited in Herman's account. Either way, my money was not refunded, Herman's would not honor the payment and my mother never received her food. Not to mention the delivery driver was frustrated and so am I. A friend introduced this amazing place to me last year and what a memorable experience it was. The service was outstanding as well the tasty foods served. The only issue was at lunchtime 7 different plates were a bit much. As I waddled out of the restaurant it was all I could do to stay awake. Can’t wait to go back.

Veggie plate is by far my go to. Everything is delicious with generous portions to boot! And the cakes, holy cow! The variety is enough to overwhelm but then you savor that first bite...heaven! Personally, I order a slice of strawberry cake as an appetizer (fruit = healthy appetizer, right?). You just can’t beat the value and the staff is always friendly and accommodating.

Called in my order at 1:55pm it's now 2:30pm, the wait is unbelievable the line is out the door and just open two hours, miss placing orders, no good control on handing out orders, they take and take more orders then giving out your orders taking a section for walk in and call in I stop coming for a year or two just for this reason now I'm about to stop coming again. So customers are upset for waiting then the owner comes out and say be patient after waiting for orders they called in hour ago. It's 2:44 still waiting I had to give my ticket to one of the cooks to check my order 2:52pm looking for my order now they can't find it so the cook comes out and say I'll re make it it was a easy ticket a hour to get two plates. O my customer is aguring. Walking out now finally

The Dining Divas went to Herman’s Soul Food Restaurant on Brainerd Road today for lunch. There were 10 of us and we were seated immediately. Our server, Kim, was great!! Everything from the veggies to the chicken wings to the pork chop sandwich were unbelievably good. The rice and the fish were the best in town. The portions were large and the prices were low. The sweet tea already has lemon in it. The chef came to our table to make sure everything was satisfactory. Everything is cooked to order making it fresh. This restaurant and the staff makes you feel like you are at a friends home for lunch. It is a very relaxed and friendly atmosphere. They are offering a Mother’s Day Breakfast Buffet this Saturday, May 12th. 8:00-11:00. The tickets are $20. There will be quite a spread and lots of door prizes. We rated Herman’s Soul Food a 5 out of 5. Great place, large portions and wonderful atmosphere! Quite a winning combination.
If you as I have wanted to have a place that serves all the selection in the most delicious soul food way, this is the place. You will always have friendly service no matter how busy the restaurant is.
