Small quaint place.Service was great,friendly.Mom and pop kind of place.Ribs were good.On the small side as far as portions go.Just a place to eat,no way entertaining or lively.

I can’t stop thinking about Hickory Pit Bar-B-Que. I stopped here once, several weeks ago, on my way from Nashville to Atlanta, and I’m trying to figure out a way to go back. Yeah, we go to Chattanooga a couple times a year, but I can’t wait that long.

Seriously, this was possibly the best pork sandwich I have ever had. And I’ve had a lot of bbq pork sandwiches. And the Brunswick Stew was great.

Then you add in the atmosphere and sweet tea, and this is what every bbq restaurant should aspire to be.

We were looking for lunch outside Chattanooga on the way to Marietta. We were deciding between Chick-fil-A and Hickory Pit. I’m glad we drove a few extra minutes to find this diamond in the rough - seriously, it’s near a used car dealership, Mexican restaurant, and check cashing.

Hickory Pit BBQ is EVERYTHING I want in a bbq restaurant, and they delivered.

Even the atmosphere was special. We sat near a couple who looked to be bbq connoisseurs, a family who make Hickory Pit their go-to lunch, and two business men who arrived in a Porsche. Almost like a Billy Joel song if he lived in Tennessee.

Anyhow, next time I’m within 20 miles of Hickory Pit Bbq, I’m going. I really like bbq, but I had no idea how much I could love bbq.

Our family-of-3 agreed to try Hickory Pit Bar-B-Que for dinner as part of our overnight stay at an East Ridge hotel, and we were all very pleased with our dining choice. Thecrestaurant is a small building with a simply furnished inside dining area & a front porch with seating & a wrap-around drive-thru lane. We were greeted very cordially by the owner Jason as soon as we entered, and he was friendly & attentive as our table server. Two of us ordered the BBQ Pork Sandwich (green beans & tater tots as sides), while our 3rd diner had the Chopped Pork Plate (baked beans, corn on the cob) plus an order of Onion Rings for our group. All of our food was perfectly prepared & delicious, and our housemade lemonades & a fruit-flavored beer were all refreshing. We would definitely return to Hickory Pit Bar-B-Que if we were visiting or passing through Chattanooga again.

Very good food. Owner’s dry rub goes great with everything. With it only being 10 bucks a bag, it’s a steal for a big bag. We spent 60 bucks total plus a tip for 2 teens and 2 adults. The owner was super nice and was right there when you needed something. If he does not offer, ask for his dry rub to try it. It is so good you may just buy a bag. Overall, the food was great for a small business. The only thing I can say is if you are looking for some fresh-squeezed lemonade or some fresh-brewed tea, don’t have expectations. But like I said, this was a wonderful place to eat and we will come back next time we are in the area.
