It didn't look like it was open when I drove up. The food was pretty good, the service was pretty good, and the prices were pretty good.

Haven't eaten here in a long time until the other day. I won't go back. Sat down and the server came over to take our order. I ordered the country fried steak to which she replied "oh that's nasty, it's mystery meat and I don't know how people eat it." Then I ordered white beans and she said " oh those are nasty too. I can't stand them." I told her I liked both items and she again said "that stuff is nasty." My food was good. A bit bland but still good. She is a horrible server and the reason I won't go back.

For really inexpensive food that is less than memorable, it's ok.

Hungry house is a throw back. Good food no frills. The employees are great, which is expected in a old school place. Mostly locals. Damn good place to get breakfast. These folks are quick to cook it up.

Love local businesses. I had the turkey and dressing, turnip greens and macaroni salad. It reminded me of my Nanny's cooking when I was a child. My husband had the breakfast deal of two eggs, bacon and 2 pancakes. We both devoured our meals. And didn't even take pictures ?Our waitress was very awesome and sweet, and even though she had quite a few patrons, she kept the conversations, orders and customers flowing without losing her smile. Great food and customer service. Thank you!

Located along 58, it's pretty easy to find as it has a lot of frontage along the highway with a large sign out front. It's on the end of a shopping strip mall, so there is a lot of parking. There are many spaces adjacent to the building as well as across a traffic lane. I did not specifically notice handicapped spaces. The spaces adjacent to the building do have a small curb to step up from the parking lot. On entering, there is a counter across from the door with single seats as well as booth seating to the left and right. There is a board with daily specials on the right as you come in. We seated ourselves and our waitress came by in a couple minutes. My dining partner and I both talked about the special but ultimately decided on menu items. Our food arrived in less than 10 minutes. My two eggs were cooked perfectly. The sausage consisted of two large but thin patties. They had a nice peppery flavor and were also cooked completely without being overdone. The gravy was very plain. I typically add pepper to gravy anyway, and this gravy needed a good amount more than I normally add. The biscuits were able to hold up to gravy but were still soft enough to be cut with the side of a fork. The western omelet was cooked perfectly. The fillings were plain and a bit overcooked (very soft), and the added cheese was typical Kraft-type american cheese. The grits were as would be expected and would certainly benefit from a pat of butter to melt in. The coffee tastes strong and refills were plentiful. The breakfast was basic and a good value.
