I have been a loyal customer of the Subway located at 2525 Desales Ave, Chattanooga TN for over 21 years during my employment at CHI Memorial hospital. During that time, I have regularly ordered a small but popular item—2 scoops of tuna in a cup—for just over $2. This has never been an issue until now.

When I visited recently, I was told this option is no longer available. An employee explained that it was because staff recently weren’t portioning correctly, which resulted in Subway “losing money.” When I asked about the cost of extra tuna on a sandwich, I was quoted a price nearly identical to what I used to pay for just the tuna alone.

This is poor customer service and poor business practice. It’s very apparent that it’s a staff training issue. Customers should not lose access to a simple, reasonable request because of internal employee portioning issues. There should be a clear and fair way to order tuna alone without being forced into buying a full sandwich. I will not be giving this subway any more of my buisness. In fact, this subway will be losing lots of regular customers due to this change

As a long-time customer, I am extremely disappointed and hope Subway corporate addresses this inconsistency and finds a customer-friendly solution.

Very very long wait time at drive thru. I’ve had to go inside to order or go inside to pick up mobile order.

Well, it looks like nothing has changed at this place. If I had read these reviews first, my mother and I would have just not eaten for several more hours while we visited my grandmother. I'd had my own appointment in a building nearby, so between getting up and ready to go, there was no time for breakfast.

We both ordered veggie subs, and I am very particular with mine. Lady working told us when we tried to ask for more lettuce that she would not put more than the small pinch she sprinkled on either sandwich. She even tried to show me this little piece of paper while saying no handfuls, which I assume was supposed to be some reminder to them or policy? That little slip of paper then fell into the pickles. Which seem to be sweet pickles? Not sure, but my mother started picking them out because they were disgusting.

These sandwiches were not worth $30.

If there is some kind of reason something can't be done by employees, it takes very little effort at all to kindly explain it. Then again, she never greeted nor thanked us, either.

Maybe the hospital should bring in some other food solution, or just allow patients/family to make snack and drink purchases from the Market instead.

Either way, there is a reason the Hospital Subway has one of the lowest ratings (2.8 at this time) among all Subways between Chattanooga down to Lafayette.

Subway! This restaurant is a disgrace and severely tarnishing your name. You need to change management and certain staff out asap!

I politely asked the lady to change her gloves after touching meat and making another sandwich. She told me No. I said that’s cross contamination of food, also unsanitary I don’t eat meat. Her reply was “it’s all cross contamination.” The restaurant was dirty and in organized especially to be in a hospital. I would not recommend anyone eating here

We are here because a family member had a bad accident and was getting prepped for emergency surgery. We tried to grab a sandwich before the long wait began and ended up sitting in Subway for a very long time even though we were the only customers. The girl who filled our order was super rude. She was mean to us and to the girl she was training. There is no excuse for treating people like that, especially when they are already in a really bad situation. Come on, Subway - be better.

Awful customer service in the mornings. Very slow paced & rude. We were in line & waited for service 1 lady in front of us & the wait was incredibly long so we ordered online & came back 45min later & my food was still not prepared & the lady said I had to wait till the line was clear. At that moment the line was so long I just preferred to have a refund. I contacted management. 15min later my husband went in to the store to get our Chicken Wrap & the young girl followed him out asking my name then rudely made comments to us & walked back in the store. She did not have a hair net on that by it's self is un sanitary. We started to eat our food & it was so cold & the wrap wasn't even correct. Barly had meat on it. More lettuce then anything. If I could post a picture I would, it was disgusting $15 I threw away bc the Employee doesn't care abt her job, at least that's what she told us before she walked backed in the store to probably treat the other customers disrespectful.

I don't understand how this place is not shut down. Vegetables look wilted and old. Employees very rude, do not even say hi or thank you, looked pissed and miserable. People who are in the hospital need people with more compassion like the nurses and not hateful. I don't understand how anyone can be so hateful to an old man who was only placing his order. They need new staff and check the produce. Gloves were also not changed from one order to the next or even after I witnessed going in cash register with them on.

Purchased sandwich for a patient. The young lady had a nasty unprofessional attitude. She made some smart comments because I asked for another piece of bread, the bread she tried to give me initially was sitting out on some dirty cloths and pans. The toppings were not fresh and she did not give me a receipt or ask if I wanted any additions, she literally ignored me and helped another customer. I had to get the receipt from the printer. This is subpar service and definitely should not be acceptable in any atmosphere, especially in a hospital. Served by number is 18152075, time of transaction 7:24pm on 3/21/2024. I would not recommend anyone to this subway regardless of it being the only restaurant in Memorial Hospital.

We ate lunch at the Subway Memorial Hospital today on 5/16/23. One of the servers took my money wearing gloves. I didn't think too much about it, until I saw her on her phone wearing gloves. I then witnessed the employee make a sandwich without changing them. As I continued watching her, a customer came into the restaurant, I told the customer to request a glove change. The employee announced that she was changing her gloves, which she should have done after she took my money.
Just plain nasty. Never again at that Subway.

This is one of the amazing subways I’ve ever been to inside of a hospital. I just started working here a couple months ago and I’ve got to know the store manager and she is one of the sweetest, caring and likes to joke around type of manager. Has learned my order from the beginning to the end.

I wasn’t expecting all that! - even though I read the reviews before going. I thought, it’s gonna be great (even though I went for just chips another time that my husband was getting tests, and it wasn’t great). It’s the manager, y’all. She is the problem. This is my second time going in there with an open mind, and it’s SUPER easy to see she is the problem. This time, she was ordering an employee out of the store, during lunch, which I don’t even have an opinion on because I have no idea what happened before that. The lady was trying to leave but the manager was right up behind her every step, threatening to call security on her over, I think the Subway visor? on her head. I recognized the manager as she was the one bossing people around last time I went in, never looking up as I stood there RIGHT in front of her for several minutes at the register, just waiting to pay for chips. Today, though, she left out with the lady she was running off, and she never. Came. Back. the 20 or so minutes I was in there. The store filled up super fast. Those other two young ladies left in there stuck with it and divided and conquered as best they could. The one on register even tried to keep up with her glove changes, and I ain’t mad at her, she was multi-tasking. I never did see the manager come back. I did, however, see several frustrated online orderers and I get it, I’ve been that person who ordered online because I didn’t have time to wait. Today, though, I hope I remember today before the next time I assume someone was ignoring my orders.Hats off to the young ladies keeping their composure in the lunch rush today
