This place came highly recommended and after visiting I could see why! The service was amazing (I wish I could remember our servers name but she was SO kind and patient with us) and the food was incredible (the BEST sweet potato fries I’ve ever had)! You’ll see me here again and again!
It is a great atmosphere with nice choices for inside or outside dining/drinks. The service was scattered (not busy BTW) but not horrible. Maybe short staffed? The food was pretty much fast food choices, but good. Good portions. The brisket was very fatty. Sad but true. Three of us had the same experience. We would go back and make different choices from the menu. Having good-sized portions was a definitely a drawing card for trying them again.
I ordered the Turkey bacon club on pita it was delicious.. Definitely a must order. I unfortunately am not able to tolerate chipotle aoili so I got it with Mayo instead anf it was ao good.. Will definitely go back again to try more of their menu..
The food was actually good. 👌 the service was insanely horrible. Looked like they had a few good servers I'd look and request one that looks capable. Our service was some of the worst I've ever had. NEVER got silverware (chose not to beg and just eat it any way we could). we ordered 5 beers, and only 3 made it to the table mid meal. The server knew she was awful and did apologize, but that's besides the point. Bring us silverware, at least! The kitchen staff seemed to have it together, though.
Universal Joint used to be one of my favorite spots, but our last visit was really disappointing. They’ve removed the Universal Fries from the menu and seem to have switched to mostly frozen food. Unfortunately, the brisket I ordered wasn’t fully thawed and had to be sent back. Really hoping they can turn things around. Also, I sent it back twice for BBQ sauce to be added and I had a smokehouse burger without BBQ sauce. Sat at a dirty bar chair for a bit then went to other room for service. Bunch of non staff walking behind the walls as well.
Just flew into Chattanooga and my first stop was UJ. Alex, our bartender, was an absolute JOY. Best attitude, fantastic service, he made us feel like we were family. THANK YOU ALEX for the best Chattanooga restaurant experience EVER!
Great service and atmosphere with good food
Food was delicious. Service was meh…
Great old gas station conversion. Plenty of open space out on the patio. Large drink cups for Cokes. Indoor seating is plentiful. Inside has tables and some space at the bar
Great place, we we're working out front clearing a drain. They allowed us to utilize their facility. Very nice

My go to place to get away an enjoyable
Food is amazing! Especially the brisket nachos.
We had a delightful time and the drinks were impressive. The atmosphere was a bit loud, but the music playlist was exactly what I preferred. The server provided outstanding service. We will definitely return during our next trip to town.
Awesome building, good location, and friendly staff.
The good: awesome retro gas station bar. If you're a fan of art deco, you'll dig it. Max stars for environment. A good selection of beers on tap. Friendly and attentive staff, which has been a rarity in Chattanooga lately.
The OK: the food. OK is the best way to describe it. Remarkably mediocre. Under seasoned and underwhelming. The thought was better than the execution. Poor ratio of protein to bread on the sandwiches, but the tots were on point.
Overall a great place for a beer and just an OK place for a meal.
Meh. It’s declined. Indifferent experience at best.
