I stopped for lunch and had the best frog legs and coleslaw ever from a restaurant.
It's technically a bar ,but the food and service is 1st class.

We just accidentally found John's Place looking for catfish, but we are do glad we did. The catfish basket was VERY GOOD. Best coleslaw I have eaten in awhile. Generous servings. And our server Julia was the best: helpful, patient, and friendly. That's what will make us come back if we are ever in this part of the world again.

The food is very good, but it's on the pricy side. The service is ok. It's not a bad place to eat as long as you remember it's a bar.

Found this little place on our way to Florida. Very friendly man who owns the place also does all the cooking. His daughter, Doodle, served us and was super friendly. The pulled pork sandwich was excellent and the cole slaw was homemade and beyond any we've ever had. There is a pool table and jukebox. Our 8 yr old said he wanted to come back and eat on our way back home. Thanks for the great food!

John's is an old landmark bar and grill.in Cookeville. One of the first integrated establishments in the area. John's serves simple bar food, burgers, sandwiches and cold beer.
