I never ate sushi before. I've tried sushi at other places since eating here & Kanpai is hands down my favorite! I don't eat anything raw, but I'm sure that's delicious too if you like that. This place is a gem!

I had a great meal with good service. The restaurant is nice and clean with an upscale interior, which is a nice surprise for a restaurant on the forgotten South side of Jackson TN. The food was fresh, served with good presentation, and was seasoned in the typical American Chinese restaurant style. No surprises taste wise. If you like americanized Chinese and Japanese Steakhouse style cuisine, you'll like this place. My wife and I noticed that their sauces which are served on the side were fresher, more aromatic, with stronger flavors. Add to taste.Their bar is very good as well. They have a full bar with seating and serve drinks at the tables as well. They were really good. Try the Wiki Waki Woo drink or Happy Buddha! Not too sweet and perfectly blended.We'll be back.

Took an hour to get a to go order when I was told 20 minutes. I understand being busy and taking a little longer but an hour is ridiculous. Then after waiting the sushi was awful. I’ve eaten sushi here before and it was fine but this time was terrible. My daughter said it smelled like cat food and it was mushy. I had to throw away 40dollars of sushi because it was uneatable.

The fried rice was terrible. And the “yum yum sauce” was just mayo and questionable, didn’t even use it.The crab rangoons were old and not even crunchy & the sauce for them was the worst.So the only thing I actually enjoyed was my avocado salad and my California sushi roll.
