My girlfriend and I had different burgers and both were bland with hardly any seasoning. I believe this was most likely an error because I tasted my mom's smash burger and that one was nicely seasoned. I'd be willing to try this place again but I will most likely try a different item on the menu.

The bar is okay, but the food and the service are both terrible. Worst spot in JC, which is such a shame since the building is (or was, their decor is so tacky) beautiful.

I was was an infrequent visitor to the Johnson City area for most of the last 30 years. My favorite restaurant to eat at was The Peerless, but now that I have moved here permanently, I think it has closed down. A local recommended Burgr Barrel and I have to say the food was great as was the atmosphere. The service could have been better but it was busy. I will definitely be back!

The food is always great and the service is awesome. My only reason for a 4 star is it's almost $4.00 a Coke and they charge to use your card. I don't think a lot of people know that but if they did upfront you can avoid the extra cost.

Located in a beautifully restored train depot, the warm charm of this restaurant is only outshone by the quality of the food. The Bacon Burger 1000 was perfectly cooked, made with high-quality ingredients, and the hand-cut fries were well seasoned and delicious.

It’s absolutely worth a visit—just be mindful of the parking. Avoid the no-parking zones, as Summers Industrial Supply next door is quick to have vehicles towed, and it costs $200 to get your car back.

Pretty neat place with a cool vibe. We started with chips 2-way and the salsa and queso both had great flavor and the chips were perfectly done not oily or over done like some other restaurants. I got the grilled chicken BLT and it exceeded expectations! The rest of my table got the Mac and cheese with chicken tenders. I was able to sample my wife's plate and Mac and cheese was great and everyone at the table loved it as well. The chicken tenders while a generous portion didn't have any seasoning to them and tasted like frying oil.

By far the best restaurant in Johnson City. The food is 10/10 (best burger in the US), service is impeccable and the atmosphere is spectacular. I hate to give this place such a recommendation because I don’t want to wait for a table! (Lol) But it deserves the review. PHENOMENAL!

We were NOT disappointed! Good food, cold drinks, great service and history. There is a lot of the old train station still there. The trellises are absolutely gorgeous, as well as the floors. Jessica C was great, she was polite and friendly, and genuinely personalized our FIRST trip there. The Hubby's had the Cowboy Burger with slaw, as much as he could eat, then had some for breakfast (the left over pork belly in an omelette) and dinner the next day, that's how big it was. I enjoyed Big G's Mac 'n cheese dinner, that night and the rest for lunch the next day. The Oreo cheesecake, OH MY MY! The Hubby's birthday dessert was the pecan pie, a la mode, also delicious. We highly recommend a trip, especially if you haven't been yet, and we'll be back!

Service was good but the food was not.

Ate dinner here and was not impressed. It felt like everything came out rushed. Fries were soggy and limp, chicken tenders were a little mushy, and chicken sandwich breading was soggy. It felt like it was rushed. Taking just even five more minutes in the fryer would've made a huge difference on the food. The food is definitely not worth the price.

Service was excellent though and the atmosphere was nice. I probably won't eat here for awhile.

My husband and I had an excellent time at Burg r and Barrel. I’m obsessed with the Mac and cheese. It’s so good it should be illegal. But I have to say, what really made our night special was having Amelia as our bartender. She was just so polite and friendly. A massive breath of fresh air when it comes to some of the usual bartenders you may have at other places who don’t take the time to actually interact with you. Even though she was justifiably busy, she still managed to find time to make us feel like her #1 priority. She’s an amazing bartender and any company should be proud to have her and consider her a major asset to their company. Keep up the great work and we will see you again soon!
