Sushi pro
This was one of our two “go to” restaurants when I visit Johnson City and have lunch with my mother weekly.
We started going to the other restaurant much more frequently, however, because this restaurant always feels dark inside. And with spring and summer coming up, it would be nice to have a little better lighting! I imagine it would be totally fine for dinner, but for lunch, sometimes it’s so dark inside that it feels a little odd in the middle of the day.
That said, the food is solid. I enjoy the fact they have sushi and other items for me, while still having standard fried-rice-type dishes with the creamy sauce for my mother.
I would never have guessed this was an Asian Fusion type of restaurant by the name. Or by the cool funky vibe the outside gives off. The food was very good and the service was excellent. The interior of the restaurant is a semi casual environment. I definitely will go back thank you for a great experience.
Lovely experience! We were first-timers today. Because we're on the older side, we had a little difficulty reading the menu owing to the dim lighting after entering from a bright day and the background art on the menu, but we adjusted and learned to have reading glasses handy next time.
The ambiance is wonderful here. Beautiful, light jazz. The decor, from the floors to the walls to the lighting at the bar, is truly upscale. Our server was perfect as well.
We started with the hot and sour soup and the potstickers. Both were excellent. The sweet pickled cucumber slices garnishing the potstickers were nothing short of divine! We ordered Mu Shu Pork and Kung Pao Chicken. Both were also very good. We even had leftovers.
With iced tea and tip, $60 for lunch. Worth. Every. Penny!
We have eaten here twice; both times were excellent food & service! The owner & the wait staff are great. The bartenders are incredible. I got sushi & my husband got a beef dish both times. Very good food!
Lunch here was outstanding! Came for sushi and sat at the bar. The service was flawless. This restaurant should serve as the gold standard for all other restaurants. Very cool vibe and atmosphere. Sushi was excellent as well. I love this place!
My boyfriends and I wanted to have a date night but didn't know where to go. We were craving Asian so we quickly googled the closest spots and this was the highest-rated one near us. I had also had several positive experiences in the past ordering take-out.
The hostess who greeted us was so nice and helped us get a seat even though we didn’t have a reservation. Due to her politeness, we thought our dinner was off to a strong start. However, this would be the highlight of our night.
Our waitress didn’t give us her name but she was generally ok, I noticed she didn’t refill my drink once but she did refill my boyfriend’s sweet tea multiple times. I would say she did the bare minimum, not the worst service I've experienced but certainly not the best. The food however was beyond sub-par.
I ordered the spicy pad Thai and I genuinely don't know what was served to me but it certainly wasn't pad Thai. The rice noodles were extremely overcooked and the noodles were drenched in a peppery sweet chili sauce. More confusingly they included a lemon wedge on the side. My dish was also supposed to have eggs but it was missing. My boyfriend ordered the General Tso’s chicken and it was also cloyingly sweet and both of our dishes lacked any discernible heat.
Ultimately really disappointing considering the high prices of this place. Pinto, Zaap Lai, Tomy Thai, Rainbow Asian, and even Juan Siao are much much better places and at a better price point too. I am so disappointed in this place when I remember it being a lot better in the past. The vibes and atmosphere of the place were nice and the lighting was really pleasing but that and the hostess are really the only positives.
We had a wonderful experience yesterday evening. Shamail, the host, was warm and welcoming. Robert, our server was attentive to our drinks/food and a good conversationalist. The potsticker appetizer was absolutely incredible. Pad Thai was good and perfectly spiced.
Went in for lunch today. Both my aunt and I got the lunch special. Everything was good. Good service, good sushi/soup, and a very calm atmosphere. Will definitely return.
My favorite restaurant in Johnson City! Eclectic menu, great cocktails and service.

We are tourists from WI, saw the cafe sign and went in. It was about 11:45 a.m., the restaurant had just one customer. This is an Asian restaurant, we do like Asian food. We ordered crab Rangoon, general tsos chicken, shrimp and vegetables in soy ginger sauce and sweet tea. The crab Rangoon were very garlicky, the chicken and shrimp were WAY overcooked. The tea was good. It was apparent why the restaurant was empty at lunch time. We paid $43 for a bad meal we didn't finish.

Nice atmosphere but food was definitely subpar. So tired of paying high prices at places where they don’t take pride in their food. Sake was good though ha!
