My favorite Mexican food in TN so far!! The atmosphere is amazing with music loud enough to tune out the buzz and chatter but quiet enough to have a conversation at your table! Prices are super fair for the portions! All the staff were extremely nice and quick. Our waitress was phenomenal! And the food was amazing. The shredded beef was fantastic and had a wonderful flavor. Seriously the only Mexican restaurant I will be eating at in the east TN area!

My niece found a roach in her chicken here. The explanation we were given was, ‘sometimes chicken comes with roaches.’ She ended up sick, and despite a verbal promise from the restaurant to cover her hospital bill, we haven’t heard a word back in a month after multiple attempts to settle this privately. I’m not sure what’s more concerning — the roach, the excuse, or the disappearing act afterward.

I love this place a lot! Our service was excellent the first time we went there but the second time, our waiter was quite slow to assist us. That said, the food is excellent, especially their queso.

Soooo bad. Last time we went to the Elizabethton one and had hair in our food/undercooked food. Came to JC a year later and thought maybe this would be different. My tacos were literally gritty. Like sandy. Was disgusting. The steak fajitas my husband got tasted like the fish they were cooked next to. Never again.

NO LONGER DOG FRIENDLY.
I wanted to save you a trip. I've brought my dog there for a decade. Hes we'll behaved and just sleeps next to the table on the patio.
I went back to eat there this weekend and all of the staff acted like it has always been no dogs.
They even pointed to a sign on the door.
I said my dog had been there 100 times, finally one staff said since the remodel, they were no longer allowing dogs even on the patio.

We’ve been loyal customers of El Charolais (Bristol Highway) for years—regulars, even as the quality of food and service started slipping. But after last night, we’re officially done. If you ever see me back there, someone better come check on me—I’ve either been kidnapped or had way too much to drink.
We came in for dinner and were told it would be about a 20-minute wait. No problem. We grabbed a drink and waited at the bar. When our buzzer finally went off, we headed to the hostess stand. She pointed us toward our table—right next to a very large party (looked like a travel ball team). When we got to the table, there was a phone, water bottle, and keys already on it. The waitress said, “Give me just a minute and I’ll wipe it off.”
Then, out of nowhere, a man shows up and claims the items on the table. The manager walks up, asks him if he’ll need that table too, and the guy replies, “Probably so.” The manager turns to us and says, “Sorry, man.” And that was it. No effort to find another table. No apology. No follow-up.
So we left—and ended up having a fantastic dinner at Amigos. The food was better, the margaritas were better, and the service was night and day.
El Food Lion, you had a good run, but we’re out.

Javier is by far the the best waiter there hands down. He is super attentive, he is quick to answer questions, speedy with his service and with drinks and refills. The food is great. But this guy is phenomenal, I will ask for him from now on! If you stop by ask for him!

One time I ate here with my husband and his family and in my burrito there was a chewed off tip of a fingernail. I was so disgusted that I vomited nonstop. It’s been 6 years and I’m still traumatized by that. Neither mine or anyone in his family has been back to this location since.
