Fair to say that Gus’s is the best deli I’ve ever been to. The steamed sandwiches are fantastic, and even a basic sandwich with minimal toppings is outstanding. The nostalgia is incredible, as it looks exactly like I imagine it did in the 80’s. Tons of Tennessee memorabilia inside as well which is really cool to look at. 10/10, 5 stars, highly recommend!
It has come to my attention that this fine establishment, a staple of UTK Campus for 44 years, beloved by literally thousands of Volunteers, unjustly received a 1 Star review today, so I figured it’s finally time to give my two cents and a five star review to cancel out the unfair negative impact of Latasha Green’s 1 Star review.
Gus’s Good Times Deli is one of the finest establishments in Knoxville and an entire college campus agrees. I’ve been eating here for well over a decade and have never once been disappointed or let down by the kind folks of Gus’s. The chief operating manager goes above and beyond to serve the good people of Knoxville, utilizing the most impressive memory I’ve ever witnessed firsthand to take dozens of orders in quick succession without writing anything down and to remember customers’ orders who haven’t even dined with us in nearly a decade. He truly cares about his customers and does everything he can to give them the best service possible. I’d suggest everyone who lives in Knoxville or who visits Knoxville to stop on in and try out this one of a kind experience. The food is so amazing, you won’t be able to stay away.
Latasha, maybe read the menu before you order so you actually know what you’re ordering in the first place? Just a suggestion.

I ask for a chicken in a sack no lettuce Xtra mayo first for 18 dollars it should have cheese second they put lettuce on it the chicken was so dark it looks like steak and it didn't taste like chicken the fries was so salty I could have cooked a meal with the salt as soon as I pick the sack up it fell apart then they had the nerve to be rude and I gave a tip so I paid almost 27 dollars for a nasty sack
LISTEN HERE! These guys?! just put chick-fil-a to shame! Can we put them in charge of the government please?
With 4 people working im the entire place they busted through a 2hr rush w/customers lining up out the door and i dont think a single person waited more than a few mins to order, and maybe 10 mins on hot fresh food!
AND the food! The food was amazing. Not greasy gassy, your gonna regret this 2moro food But DELICIOUS!
I work night shift and have seen the reviews on this place multiple times but brushed it off....smh years of confining myself to only taco bell and cookout.
The staff was sooo kind and helpful and overly accomodating to our complicated order!
GENEROUS portion sizes and a very reasonable price!
Happy anniversary guys! It was my first visit here but the first of many!
Thank you!
Parking: There is a lot with a few extra spots in the alley on the right.

ABSOLUTE 10/10 100/100 ONE MILLION/ONE MILLION!!! The food was cool, the vibe was immaculate, and there was a cute older man with a beanie who was hitting on me, and I think about going back to get his number quiet often. Please eat here, I cannot express how amazing it was. 5/5

I am staying at the hotel next door on a road trip and wanted somewhere close for dinner. I was expecting quality college town food, but nothing special. I was just served, without exaggeration, the best sandwich I’ve ever eaten in my life. I don’t live anywhere near Knoxville and I’m not sure what I’m supposed to do now. Don’t go to Gus’s if you want to enjoy the sandwiches you make at home. Anything except Gus’s simply won’t do anymore. My life has literally changed.

Been eating at Gus's Good Times Deli since I joined the Big Orange Family in 2015. In east Tennessee I'd rank it with Pal's as great places to eat. You will be welcomed by friendly faces and great service. The food is a treat to your stomach, especially the Grilled Ham & Cheese, and of course the french fries. Lots of great memorabilia for sports fans. Tops on my list for "hole in the walls" in Knoxville. Love Gus's!
Legendary!
