A Knoxville Classic Where Time Stands Still (and the Pie is Amazing!!!Litton's Market isn't just a restaurant, it's a Knoxville institution. Established in 1946, the walls practically drip with nostalgia thanks to the old pictures and genuine, welcoming vibe. Be prepared for a wait – this place is popular for a reason – but trust me, it's worth it.The first thing you'll do is grab some chalk and write your party size on the board. Embrace the tradition! While you wait, take a peek at the menu (or the pictures on the wall) – it'll get your mouth watering. We started with the onion rings, and let me tell you, they were divine. Thick-cut, perfectly fried onion goodness with ranch and honey mustard for dipping – a classic done right. For the main course, we went with cheeseburgers and a sweet potato" (which turned out to be a delightful surprise – more on that later). The burgers were everything you want in a classic burger experience: pure, high-quality beef that shone through with every delicious bite. Litton's doesn't mess around with fancy toppings here – just pure, delicious beef on a fresh, bakery-made bun. It's no wonder they're known for their burgers! We thought the sweet potato was actually "sweet potato fries." Honestly, it was a happy accident. That cinnamon butter was pure magic – like a warm hug for your tastebuds.By the time lunch was over, we were stuffed, but everyone knows you don't leave Litton's without dessert. We opted to take ours to go (which, let's be honest, only lasted about an hour at home). The peanut butter pie. Oh, the peanut butter pie. As a self-proclaimed peanut butter aficionado, I can confidently say this was the best peanut butter pie I've ever had. Seriously, it defied explanation. Imagine clouds of peanut butter bliss nestled in a perfect crust. It was that good.We also grabbed a slice of German Chocolate Cake, which was fantastic, but after that peanut butter pie, well, let's just say the peanut butter stole the show.Litton's Market is a gem. From the classic atmosphere to the incredible food (and life-changing pie!), it's an experience you won't want to miss. I can't wait to get back – if only for another slice of that peanut butter pie!

We were traveling and my wife was looking for a place to eat. Litton's came up and we weren't disappointed. I got a cheeseburger and onion rings. My wife had a chicken salad sandwich, also with onion rings. The burger was great. The chicken salad was just chicken salad, no fillers. The onion rings were on a planet by themselves. Crispy, melt in your mouth. Have you ever taken a bite of one and had the entire onion come out of the crust? Not these. Have I mentioned the deserts? After you order your meal, walk by the display case. Most bakeries would pale in comparison. We shared a strawberry cake. If you find yourself close by it's worth stopping in.

I don't get to eat at Litton's very often but when I do I never go away disappointed. Littons is always busy. It's unique in that you put your name on a chalkboard and wait for them to call you.Warning, be in an earshot or else they will skip over you. We were sitting outside in the chairs and they were getting ready to skip us because we did not hear them. I got the hamburger steak with grilled/sautéed onions on top. Sweet potato, and collard greens. They prepare all of it as good as anybody or better. The best thing though was the handmade onion rings and I challenged them and they confirmed that they were definitely handmade. It's the single reason I won't be happy eating onion rings anywhere else. They were amazing. This place is a rock in the community and has been around since 1946. I'll definitely go back.

This is a gem! We walked in late on a Wednesday evening needing sustenance and a drink. I was surprised at how crowded it was at such a late hour but the host was very kind and let me know that you need to put your name on the chalkboard (now I know) and then wait fit a table. We had pleasant conversation with the staff while we waited, and then were sat and a cozy booth. We ordered the Onion Rings, Charbroiled Chicken Breast Burger, and Chili Cheese Fries. All of it was excellent and soooooo tasty. We ordered a variety of cookies to go and those were equally as amazing. This is such a charming, small-town restaurant and bakery. It's worth the stop, even if it is just to grab some baked goods on your way through town!

The wait is ridiculously long as 5 empty tables in various areas and the hostess is off chatting on the side. Over 1/2 an hour of waiting to simply go to one of the many open tables . However, the waitress was outstanding. Food is good!

I bought a red velvet cake for $75. It is the driest cake that I have ever tasted. They definitely need to rethink their recipe or lower their price.

Delicious food for a real southern woman! Amazing service in a friendly atmosphere. They know what you need before you ask for it. Don't even ask me about the desserts. Just look in the display case and pick one for now and one to take home and one for your friend.

First time trying this place for a work lunch. Pleasantly clean with attentive employees and servers. We were served by Ami on this visit and she was friendly and made our table feel like it was her only table she waited on. I ordered a cheeseburger with fries and a slice of Italian creme cake. All was wonderfully appealing to the eye as well as the taste buds. I can see how this place has been open and remained open for so long. You won't be disappointed or leave empty feeling.

Went to Litton's for lunch when in Knoxville recently. Pork chop special was delicious!! Our server Jeffrey took great care of us and made lunch more enjoyable! Wonderful food and excellent desserts. Whenever in Knoxville Litton's is a MUST. And ask for Jeffrey. He's the best. And their history is interesting too.
