I am new to knoxville, and Old City Java has been a place of great comfort amongst the unfamiliar. As I have been getting settled into the city, Old City has always been a place where I can sit, relax, and enjoy a good ole cup of Joe. i would describe old city java as a lifelong friend you just met. Its very warm, relaxing, and fun. Am I in love with this friend? We aren't sure, and I cannot let these thoughts back in, as I have a wife and kids back home. I always enjoy time with this friend. They are kind, they are thoughtful, and they seem to know me. I really have a hard time knowing if this is truly platonic, or if there is something more. i am scared to ask, as I don't want "us" to end. maybe i'll get over this one day. maybe this will be my biggest regret in life. All I plan to do is stay here, and enjoy every moment that I can.

I loved my croissant with cortado! It’s was nice and quick service. If I had to change anything it would only be the seating arrangement. It’s bit cramped if you plan to sit in with the limited space but no issue if you take to go

Horrifically bad service, The Barista could barely give the time of day, much less my mocha (customer service was deemed beneath her). Have given the establishment quite a few chances (previous count was 4 over a 20 year span), nothing seems to improve, so they won't get another dime from me. Shocked they're still in business.

Pleasant atmosphere and quick service. It is a relatively small space and can feel cramped when crowded. I have never been able to get the WiFi to work.

I just got charged six dollars for about 4 tablespoons of expresso. Am i tripping or is a double expresso supposed to be two orders of expresso in one serving not one half of a serving

This place is just what you need when feeling low on energy. Staff is wonderfully helpful and knowledgable, food options are plentiful and the outside patio is delightful. I would go again in a heartbeat.

Lovely little spot in the Old City for a coffee or a quick bite. The inside is so warm and cozy, and the alley outside is nice and bright. I got an Earl Grey tea here and it was easily the best I've had in Knoxville thus far. Will be going back!

Compassionate staff were reasonably nice to a homeless lady who wandered in to borrow a couple of books from their tiny library and drink some water. Witnessing the interaction made me want to come back and support this business in the future.Vegetarian options: Vegetarian bakery items availableParking: Street parking and nearby to free lot under the bridge

Great vibe, excellent coffee and awesome freshly baked goods. Whether you're looking for a place to hang out, "work remotely", or just grab a coffee, Old City Java is an excellent choice. We were visiting from the Chicago area and appreciated the engaging staff and welcoming atmosphere.
