I am really sad to hear of the closing. Best plate lunch and safest place to eat lunch in Knoxville.

The last couple times I've been here have been pretty disappointing, but I keep giving chances... until today.Usually the food is great, but the service is always mediocre. I'm beginning to think it's the management. I went today and a handwritten sign was on the door; reading something along the lines of "we are training our new staff and so we are closed." How did you let it get to this point? I know help is hard but good training, pay, and benefits make a huge difference.I give up on Sam and Andy's. Maybe in a year I'll try again and see if they figure things out.

The food is good though I'm not sure I would call it the best in town. I generally get a pretty unwelcoming vibe most times I come here. I always feel like the cashier is annoyed that I don't walk in the door knowing what I want and need more than 10 seconds to look the menu over. They even abandoned the register so they could run out front to yell at a customer in the parking lot who didn't make sure the door shut behind them because the door is busted. There were a couple times where I got phenomenal service but on the average it generally feels like they think customers are a burden.

This is a local "you have to know the drill" kind of place. Walk up, order, grab your beverage, have a seat and they'll bring it to you. We had the Philly, which was good, not great. The okra was good, the fries were okay. I've had a burger at their other location and it was pretty good.

The food is good when they actually have what you want. Went on the weekend and everything my wife would ask for, the cashier would say "oh we're out". She did that like four times. They had the basics. There's a better deli about 5 miles north of Fountain City. I'll let you figure that one out for yourself.

Unfortunately came in with high hopes after hearing so many wonderful things but was let down. While sitting in the loud dining room waiting for our order, we watched everyone who ordered before and after us get their food. (We were only waiting on two steamed sandwich meals that $30 was way too much for) after a little over 20 minutes we asked if we could get the food Togo which came out almost immediately. Our sandwich’s were cold and barely had any lunch meat which was disappointing.
