First time visitor. Jaclyn S was an excellent server, very pleasant and attentive! LOVED the Fried Green Tomatoes with Pimento Cheese topping. Never had them that way, want to only have them that way forever😋😋😋😋😋

Southern Grit is the happy hour MVP of the Old City. It’s like someone asked, “What if we combined great beer, awesome whiskey, cheap sliders, and friendly staff into one magical pre-Smokies-game hangout?”—and then actually did it. The beer selection? Chef’s kiss. The whiskey list? Deep enough to make you question your life choices—in a good way. And the sliders? Let’s just say good enough to justify ordering six but you prob only need two. The staff? Absolute legends. Fast with a drink, quicker with a joke, and somehow always appear right when you’re thinking, “I could probably fit one more slider.” Southern Grit is one of those places you walk into once and instantly start planning your next visit. Whether you're pregaming for a Smokies game or just pretending it’s Friday on a Tuesday, this spot gets it right every time.

The chicken tenders at Southern Grit are an experience I will never forget. Mostly because I’m still recovering. Don’t get me wrong, they were absolutely delicious
crispy, juicy, and packed with flavor. I have eaten here several times and historically ordered the medium spice level, but recently decided to up my game to the hot spice level. These aren’t chicken tenders
they’re a gateway to the afterlife.

I love spicy food. Truly I do. But these tenders? They don’t play fair. The spice doesn’t announce itself right away. It lulls you into a false sense of security with its savory perfection. And then BAM it hits you. Not gently. No, it hits you like a freight train full of molten lava. At one point, I’m pretty sure I left my body.

I saw God. He looked down at me and said, “You did this to yourself.” An atom split on my pallet, and what followed was a nuclear level fallout throughout my entire gastrointestinal system. Tears were shed. Lives were changed. I may never recover.

The Brussels sprouts, though? Absolutely incredible. Crispy and perfectly seasoned, they were the calm after the storm, a soothing reminder that not all food seeks to destroy you.

10/10 would recommend, but only if you’re ready for the death of your own ego and spiritual transformation. Southern Grit, you have humbled me. See you next time.

We had the Brussels sprouts, chicken pot pie, and fried chicken and gravy. It was all so delicious. We're traveling across the country and this is the best meal we've had from here to San Diego!

This place has been on my list for a while now. Amazing brunch. Pineapple Mimosas were delicious. Hashbrown Casserole was great. BUT, the Biscuits and Gravy were fantastic and huge portions. Service was great sitting at the bar! I can't wait to come back to try their burgers! Their chicken looked amazing, too! Great experience!

We ordered the Southern Mess with Mac n cheese + fried okra and chicken tenders (hot) with sweet potato fries + salad. It was incredible. The table beside us ordered the $12 mimosa which came with a FULL bottle of brut. We will definitely go back.

This spot is perfect for a satisfying meal. I began with the ‘Just Peachy’ drink, which had a margarita-like twist and was absolutely outstanding. For starters, we had the fried okra and pickles—crispy and delicious, especially with the ranch. My main course was the double-stack burger with American cheese, paired with a side of creamy mac and cheese. The burger was incredibly flavorful and cooked to perfection. Our waitress was fantastic, keeping the atmosphere lively and attending to our needs with great care.

Food exceeds all expectations. Anything fried has a perfect crunch. The hot chicken is really well seasoned, and the meatloaf was excellent. Anything with their pimento cheese is recommended.

This restaurant truly exceeded expectations across the board! From the food to the customer service and atmosphere, everything was top-notch. It’s easily one of the best dining experiences in Knoxville, TN, and I highly recommend checking it out if you have the chance.

The service was exceptional—our waitress delivered some of the best customer service my family and I have ever experienced. She was attentive, respectful, and upbeat, making us feel welcome throughout our meal. The food itself was seasoned to perfection, bursting with flavor, and clearly made with care. As for the atmosphere, it was incredibly relaxing, with comfortable music that allowed us to enjoy our meal in peace.

All in all, this place is a must-try for anyone in Knoxville. Don’t miss out on this gem! ?
