This evening I had dinner at Woodruff Brewing Co. on Gay Street after the Tennessee/Georgia football game. The restaurant wasn’t busy when I walked in. I was greeted and taken upstairs to my table, where I ended up sitting mostly by myself for a while. Service started off promptly—my server quickly took my drink and food order.
I went with the Prime Rib special cooked medium rare, served with mashed potatoes. The food came out very quickly, which seemed unusual for a steakhouse-style dish. Unfortunately, the prime rib and mashed potatoes were both just warm, not hot. The prime rib itself lacked flavor, and the potatoes had a heavy sour cream taste that wasn’t to my liking.
The server didn’t check back until I was nearly finished. When I mentioned that the food was basically lukewarm, she asked if I wanted to send it back, but at that point I only had a few bites left and declined. I finished what I could and decided to end the meal there.
The photos show the prime rib dinner as it was served and the upstairs dining area, which has an industrial look with open views over the bar and brewing tanks. While the setting was fine, the meal itself was underwhelming.
Overall, this wasn’t a standout dining experience. Service was polite but minimal, and the food fell short in both temperature and flavor.
A must stop location! Serving a wide variety of food and some top notch beers. The service is outstanding as well. Offers bars on the first and second floors.
Order potato skins and enjoy your life
Very good food for cheap
The potato skins are absolutely huge. But for me winner was the Woodruff Wings. They were so crispy and good I wish I had ordered double. Everything was a great price as well. Definitely recommend.
Super cool spot! I got the fish sandwich with a side of onion rings and the portions were pretty generous. The best part was the Cajun tarter sauce.
I was initially a little worried when I noticed how large the menu was, and that it would be a mediocre Cheesecake Factort ordeal - with a thousand menu items and nothing all that excellent - but my friends got various different dishes, pastas, quesadillas, burgers, etc, etc, and they were all yummy!
The aesthetic of the building is fun and historic, and it's a good spot to grab dinner whenever you're wandering down Gay Street.
Super cool building and historical pictures! The beers were super boring but that is a personal thing so no big hit there. But the jumbo wings…….were not jumbo. I’d say they were on the small side, especially the flats, whew, very small. I kinda want to go back and try something different.
Our server Kippinny was so rude.
Will NEVER EVER GO BACK TO THIS PLACE AGAIN
If the server is having a bad day, they should not take it on customers.
Zero star!!!
Love this place. Great beer and happy hour!
I ordered the huevos rancheros for brunch and my plate came out wet with oil. My eggs were massively overcooked and both the tostadas and potatoes were soggy. It was barely touched when I told the waitress and it was left on the bill full price. I would not return here.

Love the wings. Cool bar also!
Good food and good service. Also loved the decor and historical pictures they had.
My wife and I have been going to the brewery for over 15 years, and we love going just as much now as we did our first time. She still gets the potato skins, and I still get the BBQ chicken pizza. Both are absolutely amazing! The potato skins are bigger than the pictures do justice. On many occasions, one skin can be an entire meal. As for the BBQ pizza, I get a whole one for myself and eat half and take the other half to go. Ironically, the only negative thing I have to say is about the beer. We're craft beer drinkers, so you would think this would be a perfect fit. Unfortunately me, my wife and many of our friends can not drink their beer without getting a headache but, for some reason, I'll still drink one with my meal. They also must struggle with keeping their lines clean as the beer has a very.... distinct taste that is familiar to anyone who knows beer and what specific taste that unclean lines produce. 5/5 for food and service! 2.5/5 for beer.
