The food is really not great ordered a big giant New York strip well done it came bloody the cheese sticks we're probably Frozen the chicken was chewy and had no flavor the people were very nice but I have to leave an honest review will not go back
We were seated immediately and our waitress attended to us right away. We both ordered the prime rib and they were cooked perfectly. We got the woodshed potatoes for our side and they tasted great.
Legendary steaks, great service.
Very local
No finer steak can be had at any price in Knoxville. Expect to wait to be seated, but the meal is worth both the drive and the wait.
In Knoxville on business and boss brought us here for an amazing dinner! Cool place within walking distance lots of character.
Everything tasted amazing. The cheese spread was very nice. We loved the old log house atmosphere. The bathrooms could use a little love though.
Another GREAT experience! We have eaten here both times that we were in Knoxville. Excellent food, wonderful service, great atmosphere. Can't say enough good things. Thanks for a great meal!
Not noisy, great prime rib
Very good and huge steak served in a fun, rustic setting by very personable staff.
OMG! Do you need a date night, that has unforgettable, amazing food, with a matching environment? Look no further than this local celebrity of a restaurant! Been around for years, and will be here long aftwr that too! Food is 10/10, and super high end! If you want a steak, like a real steak or my favorite, the Prime Rib, this is the ONLY PLACE TO GO!

An absolutely MUST when you're in Knoxville, TN. Steaks are cooked to perfection and the flavor is second to none. They just do it right.
Just ate there. My medium steak was rare so I sent it back and the waitress brought it back very fast. It was microwaved and chewy. I asked her if it was microwaved and she confirmed and took it back again but she over talked me and rushed off. I was trying to tell her to cancel because my husband was done eating and I shared his plate but she wouldn’t hear me because she over talked and left with it again. We waited for a while and finally got a 125.00 bill and a steak to take home. Way too much money for me to take my food home to microwave or give to the dogs.
Quality went down for a short time after Ms king was gone, BUT this place is running great again!!! Best prime rib and rib eye we have eat anywhere and our server was so nice and really good!! Can't wait to get back by again!!
My significant other & I visited for the first time tonight. We've both been wanting to check it out for a long time due to its history & reputation in Knoxville.
Parking was easier than expected due to the large back lot. Getting a table for 2 at 7pm on a Saturday night was also much quicker than expected, but there was a wait for larger tables. I did really enjoy the atmosphere overall, but there was entirely too much confusion & clutter to feel like it was a super hygienic environment. I wish the entryway at least had been more organized for a steakhouse of its caliber, but the whole place is still absolutely charming.
The only reason I am giving 4 stars is due to the service. The staff gave the southern hospitality that keeps people wanting to come back. Everyone was so accommodating, warm & inviting. It was very busy & our server did a fantastic job balancing the workload & keeping us taken care of.
For the food & drinks:
Note, you must bring your own bottles of wine. We both ordered sweet tea. They served us very large cups with straws unopened straws provided & the tea was perfect.
We started with the sample platter, with cheese sticks, onion rings & fried mushrooms. He says it was delicious, but the cheese sticks weren't remarkable - I felt it all to be bland, so I was thankful for the marinara & honey mustard.
I ordered the combination ribeye (med rare) + shrimp with mushrooms & woodshed potatoes. I'd say the ribeye came out more medium, but I still thoroughly enjoyed it all. Not the most marbling, and a little greasy, but it definitely still appeased my steak craving. The shrimp, I would not recommend. Burnt on the sides & overly smokey flavor, but not overcooked. Sides were a little bland but I enjoyed the potatoes.
He ordered the prime rib with the loaded baked potato & sweet potato. The prime rib was HUGE. Like an inch thick & filled the whole plate. He says it was med rare & tender, but fatty (which he prefers). The baked potato was delicious, soft & cooked all the way through. The sweet potato was also cooked all the way through & good, just ask for cinnamon sugar.
Another note, we weren't personally offended by it, but there were workers smoking near the entrance. If this is something that would bother you, this may be the wrong environment for you.
Overall, the food was a little bland. We probably won't return, but it was definitely worth going one time. I have no doubt the nostalgia & staff keep regulars loyal. We're just personally looking for a different experience from a steakhouse.
Absolutely amazing! Food was delicious! Service was outstanding! Great food and great people make for a delightful dinner. Louise was personable and professional!
