Not understanding French fries in a burrito. It just wasn't good. And what Mexican restaurant doesn't provide chips and salsa for free??? And your salsa really needs some help. Super blah...no flavor or spice to it. I would not do this again.

I was pleasantly suprised with my experience at Zalate. I was expecting a repurposed shack like many other eateries along Clinton Highway. Zalate is so much more, a purpose built location with large open inside dining area and a generous patio outback, it is great for a large group gathering or a quick lunch (that's us). A full bar covers an entire wall of the dining area and I am sure is a center of activity during peak times. A comprehensive menu provides upscale Mexican street food. The tacos were delicious. Just pick what you like. Definite fan of the horchata. You can order small amounts for sampling or larger to make a meal. The staff was attentive and not intrusive. Thanks for the enjoyable experience.

Soooo good! We love this place! Must try the cheese-stake quesadilla, which comes with a bowl of queso for dipping and we always have extra to eat with chips! The jalapeño marg is also very delish.

So this place is adorable and they have a great menu but we found the food very bland. There was no zip. This place would be good for someone who wanted Mexican food but didn't like spicy. Other things we didn't care for - no sauce on tables - no complementary chips & salsa Sadly we won't be back here, but again, very cute, friendly staff and seem to have an extensive drink menu.

Worth a try but definitely not 1st choice for Mexican, I'll be back if someone else is paying lol The ramen was flavorful but full of fat, nearly finished the waitress said "oh, I can get you a side of just meat" She did try to make it better which was very appreciated. Sent 1st draft beer back, was flat and the rice bowl was extremely dry. Itty-bitty Street tacos. May be worth a try in summer, looks like a great patio. Not a fan of paying extra for chips and salsa!!
