Amazingly delicious! Best fried fish on a Friday afternoon. The potatoes and gravy, creamed corn and green beans ... perfect. Felt like I was eating at my Granny's house!!

Live an hour away and heard about this place. Was in town at the state park and got a chance to go here for lunch.
The mercantile cafe was amazing and as good as people say. It’s a little like a hometown version of a Cracker Barrel - if cracker barrel was not a corporate chain.
Food was very good and hot and fresh. I ordered a chicken sandwich and fries. See the photo- it was twice the size of the bun and juicy and delicious. I was really happy and impressed.
Service was good and I feel like they are in business to feed people good food and they do a great job!
I will make a trip here again - well worth it. 😁

Oh my goodness. This place is phenomenal. Where do I start..
First of all, we were greeted with friendly folks that made us feel right at home and comfortable trying this “new to us” restaurant. We LOVE meat and 3s and were excited to try this location.
Second, the food was amazing. Classic southern home cooking, and the desserts were out of this world good.
We will definitely be back, and I highly recommend this location!
One question I do have, do you all serve meatloaf? If so, I’d love to come back on a day you do.

Didn't really read reviews other than seeing the great ratings and decided to give it a try. Turned out to be cafeteria style for the specials or you can order from a good selection of things off a whiteboard. Everything was amazingly delicious! We will probably go out of our way to come back here when we are in the area. The fried chicken was some of the best I have ever had in my whole life and the roast beef/gravy was equally delicious. True home-cooked taste!

For the past couple of months my wife and I have been enjoying our Sunday lunch at the Mercantile Cafe. We have lived in the area for about 5 years now and have just recently found this great place to eat. The home cooking reminds me of my Mother’s food she fixed for me growing up. The fresh vegetables and the deliciously prepared meats, rolls and not to mention the deserts. I love the carrot cake!! All these are simply Devine. I love the crème corn, green beans and mashed potatoes. The Chicken and dressing makes every Sunday feel like Thanksgiving. I really enjoy the personal service we get when we are there as well. The owner, Renee always makes it to every table to ensure our experience was above satisfactory. The friendly service from the staff and conversation always puts a smile on our face and wanting to come back week after week. Thank you for great food and service. Highly recommend !!
I had the pimento cheeseburger and freshly fried potato chips, and that was the best cheeseburger I ever had! My wife had the chicken Asian salad and the chicken with tender and delicious! The staff is warm and friendly, and the restaurant has a family friendly atmosphere! In short, great food, great people, and great atmosphere

The Mercantile is one of Manchester’s best !!!
You must try it if you haven’t already. We had lived here for almost 5 years before stopping in for the first time and are upset over so many years of lost opportunities to eat here. Everything about this spot is the best, deserts made from scratch, the food, everything is exceptional.

First time walking in here and had such a pleasant, fun and welcoming experience. It's giving home away from home. Truly feels like a family owned restaurant! My friends and I were on the road to Winchester, Tennessee and discovered this restaurant along our route. Although we the only colored people in the restaurant, they went around their way to help us feel welcomed and included. It is a cafeteria style restaurant with homemade specialties to blow your mind's taste buds. Had their Habanero Sticky Chicken and it was bomb! Just the right amount of spice and their chicken comes boneless and dipped in their delicious homemade Habanero Sauce. Make sure to get your free dessert by joining their text messaging group through a QR code provided on the table. I left with a whole coconut pie to take home for the group. At the end of our lunch, we enjoyed looking through their fun little trinkets they had for sale which were perfect for Bonnaroo!
