Amazing atmosphere, and you’d never know it was here from the road!

Without a doubt the best place to see and be seen in Maryville is The Bird and The Book. Ms Misosky and Ms Frye have created a blue oasis in a burning desert of red that constitutes Blount County. The food is beyond delicious and they have the absolute best quality of liquor in the whole area. One can feed their body and their open-mind there. I can't say enough positive things about this place. Thank God for this restaurant, free-thinkers need a place to be in this county. I know it is a business, but it is also a public service that Maryville needs.

What a charming place! Did my first murder mystery play with a friend and we had a blast! Dinner was serviced while we interviewed the suspects. The portions were very generous. Actors, actresses and staff were all wonderful! Good company, good time, and a great place to hang out! Thank you!

Many many beer offerings and some very different takes on sandwiches that are fantastic! One of the largest salads that I have ever seen!

We used to come here when it was Bluetick Brewery. The changes include a live music stage, no brewery (sorry, had to state the obvious) but the space is generally the same overall. If you are looking for a nondescript, easy going, simple and welcoming social location, this is worth checking out. Food quality is very good. We had a couple of paninis and a burger as well as the hummus appetizer. All were fresh, flavorful and tasty. The music is an added bonus in my mind. Full bar so they serve wine, liquor and beer. Great bottle and can selection as well as draft. A unique setting in Maryville worth checking out. Mike River show was the bomb.

My wife and I adore The Bird and the Book as well as Southland Books! Extremely welcoming environment and very vegan friendly. Also, when they say “large coffee,” they mean LARGE.

I’d been to Southland Books & Cafe many times but hadn’t had the chance to visit the adjacent restaurant until the Murvul Punk & Drag Flea Market. This was a FANTASTIC event!Everyone who worked here was wonderfully welcoming and friendly. I had to hold up a written note asking about gf options bc the music was so loud. They don’t have a gf menu but they scrambled to help me figure something out despite the extreme busyness and everything else going on. I ended up getting a delicious wrap without the wrap which was basically a scoop of chicken salad over vegetables with chips. Normally this kind of compromise would be one of those kinda depressing but par for the course deals that happens with food allergies but it was the BEST chicken salad I’ve ever had! Zero disappointment. I don’t usually like chicken salad but this was amazing. I very much appreciated that no one seemed confused or put off by the request even though we were communicating by screaming and note passing. The event itself featured a ton of local vendors, bands, and drag performers. The energy was great! I hope they host more events like this in the future. I will absolutely be there.I’ll need to check the restaurant out sometime when there isn’t a huge concert happening. As with the bookstore, the vibes here were immaculate. I’m sure it will be just as delightful on a quiet evening.

This is a meeting location for local artists, writers, book lovers, intellectuals, and retired academics. It is part of a new and used bookstore complex of connected old buildings. The food is good and eclectic. Vegetarian focus.
