Delicious BBQ! We make it a point to try a new place in Memphis when we are there, but we had Central BBQ twice!

This place has a great soul vibe. There are a few styles of true Memphis BBQ and this is one of the classics. There are a handful of experiential BBQ joints in Memphis that you can't compare to other joints because they have an established flavor, but it is all still Memphis. This is one of that handful.
My carnivorous family devoured the pulled pork, chicken, and ribs, while I had the grilled portobello with fresh slaw and lots of custom hot BBQ sauce. I had my pooch, and we enjoyed the fan-cooled, covered, dog-friendly patio, which was comfortable on a 100+ heat index day.
The staff are extremely accommodating and friendly. Lots to see and do in the area. Walkable from pretty much anywhere downtown.

Great food and atmosphere!

After eating you can walk over to the National Civil Rights Museum at the former Lorraine Motel where MLK Jr was assassinated.

One of my top three barbecue experiences at a restaurant. Everything was fantastic. Pulled pork nachos, brisket, turkey and ribs to die for.

Positives: Banana Pudding was pretty good and vibe was nice
Cons: Pretty middling barbecue with meats that felt overall underwhelming (Turkey in particular felt like some thicker grocery store deli meat, but ribs were alright). Sides were also pretty disappointing with the coleslaw being particularly bad and bland. Server also did not wash hands in the restroom.

Go to Cozy Corner BBQ for better food, and value if possible

BBQ is alright. All sides were served cold (not sure if it should have been that way i.e. baked beans Mac & cheese). Turkey was cold too. The ribs were great as was the smoked sausage.

A great place to stop off for some fantastic BBQ! I visited twice while in the area. Fries and slaw are good, ordered a lean brisket sandwich with mac and cheese. The sausage is out of this world!! Indoor and outdoor seating, always very busy with a line. Bathrooms are not awful but its so slammed 24/7 that they need a little more attention. I kept my cup to remember this place, will visit again! Not super expensive but not cheap either, you get what you pay for.

The ribs fall off the bone and the smoky flavor is out of this world.
