The food is fair. We had a gift certificate so full price would definitely not have been worth the price. Service is nice but inexperienced. Appetizers and entrees did not come in a consistent manner. Steak order medium rare but came to the table very rare. Took about ten minutes for them to correct and the result was good. We had a side come out after we'd already finished entrees. They need some more structure with service and cooking. It's simple stuff: bring the entrees and sides out at the same time not 5-10 minutes apart.

Overall, I would say our experience was decent but somewhat marred by several one-off issues that separately wouldn't have been a big deal but together made for an annoying dining experience. Our appetizer (crisp flatbread) came out ICE cold with like congealed cheese on top. They said they would comp the app and then didn't and I had to ask. We had to wait way too long for several items, including drinks (a glass of wine, it's not like they had to make it?) and a butter tasting that was just bread and butter. Also, they started cleaning up and preparing for the next day the back room we were in after we were the only table left but two busboys were chatting LOUDLY around us while doing it and it was pretty awkward. And this was at like 7:30pm. Could have been better all around. Food was good to very good but management and service was kind of a sore spot.

I had a great birthday lunch with my mom. We both enjoyed the Char burger with fries and onion rings. We also ordered fried green tomatoes and the butter tasting. My mom I think ordered the bread service thinking it was something special, even tho I told her it is just bread and different butters. She was not impressed, me on the other hand. I am a lover of all things bread and butter and enjoyed the bread service and we both enjoyed the tomatoes. The burger and sides were prepared to our liking and our waitress was very nice and accommodating after we asked to be moved due to another table. Overall, we enjoyed our visit and will return.

I was disappointed in Char. I have been putting off going there for a number of reasons but decided I wanted to celebrate my birthday for a day early dinner. For starters, the place was not intimate. Something about it just didn't give that feel. There was a large group that was so loud you could hear exactly what each of them were saying so that killed any mood that one could have possibly even tried to have. They had NO CRAB CLAWS which was a huge disappointment, but the oysters were very good. The waiter didn't introduce himself and I had to ask him what his name was. There was no mention of the daily specials other than the small menu left on the table that we didn't see until later. The lambchops lacked flavor and the sauce provided for them was clumpy and overbearing with a taste of vinegar or Worcestershire shire sauce. I felt no reason to return and regretted having not chosen another restaurant for my pre birthday dinner. I will not be returning.

Love the laidback atmosphere and service of the bar area, which is open seating at bar and high top tables. Live piano most nights. My go-to is the scallops and fried oysters. Great happy hour food menu.

The service was great and it is a nice restaurant. Unfortunately the food didn't meet expectations. The mac and cheese tasted like it was out a can with the onions hidden underneath, and the brussel sprouts tasted like they were previously frozen with no bacon to be seen. The steaks were decent enough however my medium rare ribeye was medium at best. For clarity, the restaurant removed the mac and cheese from the bill, and I didn't inform them about the steak until the end as it was nice enough and I didn't want to wait for a new one. Having been before and enjoyed it, it was a disappointing anniversary dinner.
