A tip is supposed to be given for good service, so requiring us to pay it in advance really defeats the purpose. Obviously, the staff doesn’t need to put in any effort since they’ve already gotten their tips before even doing anything for the customer. We drove from midtown to Germantown because we used to love the City Silo on Mendenhall. We ordered food and sat at a table. We did not ask for takeout, but we were given a bag with takeout plastic containers of food and the deplorable plastic forks. Everyone else in the restaurant got silverware and real plates and bowls. We had had to wait too long already for our food, so we didn’t ask for it to be corrected. My daughter’s tempeh was good as always, but I opened my takeout container and I got a MUCH smaller portion of the good root dish than I usually get. When I asked one of the workers about it, she was totally unconcerned and claimed it was just because the food had all been slid to one side of the takeout container. Sorry, I’ve had the same thing at City Silo multiple times and that serving was just a fraction of what the portion usually is. I really wish I had taken pictures, but we were in a hurry after having to wait so long for our food. Tipping the staff before they do anything for your customers allows them to provide poor service and have an attitude.

I have to say the food was superb. We had the lentil soup and the tomato basil soup and then a sweet potato bowl and some Tempe tacos. It was all fresh and intriguing. My complaint is that they had the background music up way too high. We tried to find a quiet spot in the restaurant to get away from the blaring noise, butwe managed. Other than that, it was great and looking forward to coming back, hopefully with the music turned down.

Second time here and still love it. Warm, clean, quaint; clean eating food is delicious; employees are always busy and yet friendly and professional; coffee is excellent. No complaints either time I've been here, and the patio area is my favorite thing about this location.

Great food with several vegan options! They have great produce and everything tastes fresh. They recently moved to a bigger spot and there is a lot more room! Amazing food and decent prices!
