I’ve been a loyal customer of The Cupboard for years, and their dressing has always been one of my favorites. I even ordered it this year because it reminds me of my grandmother who recently passed. It has always tasted homemade and comforting.

I placed my Thanksgiving order on November 20 and picked it up on November 26 before the restaurant closed at 7 PM. I ordered a half pan, took it straight home, and put it in the refrigerator immediately.

Later that same evening around 10 PM, I opened it to warm up a small portion and try it. The dressing had a sour smell, and when I tasted it, it had a slick, slimy texture and flavor, almost like the vegetables or ingredients had gone bad. I’ve never experienced anything like this from them before.

I do want the restaurant to be aware because something clearly went wrong with the preparation or storage. It was disappointing because I really look forward to their dressing every year, and I hope this was just a rare mistake.

Generally speaking, the cashiers who work the front counter at the Cupboard have terrible customer service. I was charged .75 cents twice for a takeout order of two entrees, which is excessive so I decided to cancel the take out order and dine inside the restaurant instead. One of the cashiers—Jessica said she had removed both of the .75 cent charges from my order receipt after I asked her for clarification, but when I asked for an itemized receipt to make sure she calculated it correctly, she only took off one of the .75 cent charges. Later I asked the other cashier (with long blonde hair) if the entire previous transaction would be refunded since they had me make an additional payment after I finished dining in the restaurant. She assured me the entire amount would be refunded to my credit card, even though I showed her my refund receipt that didn’t clearly reflect that a full refund was issued from the transaction. She said I would likely see the full refund reflected within my transactions soon. However after checking over a week later, I saw that my card was charged twice for the same meal, so I called the restaurant to dispute the extra charge. Darla, the manager did not call back hours after I called so I went up to the restaurant with my receipt and explained the problem. Jessica was there at the front counter again and lied, denying that she had anything to do with the charge, even though she did—and her name was clearly on my receipt. She and the other cashier also didn’t apologize for the faulty take out charge or thank me for patronizing the restaurant at the time of payment for my meal.
Fortunately my waitress was very attentive, accommodating and friendly, which helped somewhat improve my experience. But after being greatly inconvenienced due to the incompetence, dismissiveness, lack of integrity and overall rudeness of the Cupboard cashiers, I do not plan on eating there again.
I’ll give Darla credit for eventually resolving my issue and apologizing for the mistake, but it was still unacceptable to have to wait as long as I did after calling and going up to the restaurant to wait for someone to provide a refund. I also gave her feedback on Jessica’s rudeness and hopefully she addresses it so other customers can have a better experience. Shout out to LaQuita for her excellent customer service though. The other cashiers would be wise to follow her example of tact, friendliness and professionalism in the workplace.
Overall, I would not recommend the Cupboard restaurant to anyone who desires to receive consistent, great customer service and to feel like their patronage is genuinely appreciated because it’s apparently not a priority at this establishment.

I ordered chicken, I got fish. I ordered black eyed peas and they were barely cooked. I had fried okra (very good) and mac-n-cheese which was so so. I ordered iced tea and didn't receive it until I reminded my server and got it to go. I've eaten here before and it was much better. I guess the peas is what got me most.

The waiter had no patience now the vegetables were good but the fish was horrible it wasn't catfish it was tilapia that's not right you paying for catfish and you getting tilapia to eat I disagree with that that's false advertising
