Where can I start? This place is soooo yummy. It is casual. Wear what you like. Very comfortable setting. I have been twice for brunch and got the bananas foster waffles. Sugar crystals make these waffles especially yummy. It could even be eaten as dessert but they stop serving them at 3 pm Crawfish fries are a must try! They have salads but I haven't tried them yet cause I am too busy stuffing my face with other deliciousness. Fried oyster gumbo was amazing but a bit too spicy for this wimp. We have also tried the crawfish tamales(special) and a bunch of other things. They have great service, a couple small TVs and comfy seats. You can bring your own wine!! Bring an empty stomach too! They know how to cook. I cant want until their patio is ready and the weather is warmer. Will probably be my favorite place to hang out.

Stopped by to grab some lunch to go- we love "the shack" so much, have been wanting to eat at "shells" for a while! So many choices- finally narrowed it down to 1/2 muffuletta, 1/2 crawfish Po boy, cup of red beans and rice, cup of fried oyster gumbo and shrimp and crawfish hush puppies! Oh my!!!!! Mufaletta is delicious, crawfish po boy- with fried crawfish- yum yum- came with kettle chips. Hush puppies with remoulade dipping sauce - to die for! Saving the oyster gumbo and red beans and rice for dinner- so much food!!! Service was excellent as well- we will return- too many items I still want to try! sorry no pics of the food- we ate it too fast

Had a wonderful breakfast here this morning. Service was great and the food was perfect. Shrimp/crab omelet- delicious. Key lime pie- best I've ever had. BYOB, and no corkage fee. Definitely a new favorite in Memphis!

We've wanted to try Elwood's Shells for a while, and decided to eat here for lunch after running a bunch of errands. The smoked salmon dip was really good, and they give you a pretty big scoop to go with bread and tortilla chips. I had the crab cake po'boy that was excellent. Came with kettle chips. My wife ordered the etouffee, which had great flavor. The serving was also enough for at least two people. She did mention it needed a lot more crawfish and shrimp, but she grew up in the bayous of south Louisiana, so she may be a bit biased toward those particular foods. The meal was finished off with a huge slice of key lime pie. Very good. We will defiantly be back. If you're visiting Memphis and find yourself in the midtown area, give this place a try.

Happened upon this jewel while visiting Memphis Cooper-Young area. I was welcomed by the staff comfortably chatting it up behind the small bar as soon as I walked through the doors. I thought I would stop in for a quick drink and bite but once I saw the New Orleans inspired menu I quickly settled in on the redfish. It was beautifully presented and tasted deliciously fresh! But, the real highlight was dessert. THE KEY LIME PIE!!! Again, I came in for a quick bite. But with the success of the entree and seeing dessert land on my neighbor's table, I couldn't resist. The pie was so rich--smooth, creamy, and not too tart--but the crust was the ABSOLUTE BEST I'VE EVER HAD!!! BTW the slices are huge; it took me 3 sittings to eat one slice. I think I'll go back one more time--this time just the pie.

Wasn't really impressed. Love Elwoods Shack. Shells..not so much. It was during a very slow time and had to ask for refills. Water and tea. It's the little things. And the food was just ok. Maybe it was an "off" day. I'll try it one more time to see.

FANTASTIC food and great service! The downside to this place is the size of the dining area. Although, once they add tables to the new deck it's going to be a PHENOMENAL place to grab some AWESOME seafood! The staff was very friendly and accommodated our large party of 20 without complaints. I am absolutely in love with Elwood's Shells. We tried it for dinner for the first time a few weeks ago, and have already gone back. I have a personal blog dedicated to reviewing mac & cheese, and gave Elwood's side of lobster mac 5 stars before I'd taken two bites - nothing about that mac says side dish (here's the long-winded description in the post I wrote: It's sincerely one of the best I have had. I'd seen the desserts on their Instagram page, and came in knowing I had to try one - I have a major sweet tooth, so this was a dinner of endless delight for me! We actually decided on the banana cream pie, and I now have a new favorite dessert that puts all others to shame. The service we've received every time has also been excellent, always above and beyond the standard expectation. Thank you, and keep knocking it out of the park!!

The food was on point! Very delicious. The owner was so nice and outgoing. We had to wait a bit for our table because it isn't a big place and people were hanging out but the food was great. A must try for seafood in Memphis!

I've visited twice and both times were just okay. The fondue sauce was a bit runny and watery. The shrimp and grits were tasty. The Lamar was highly recommended but was the least favorite. It was very lemony. Staff was very friendly and helpful.

Solid choice for great seafood dishes and sandwiches, and great shrimp and grits. A little pricey, but top quality and large portions mean you get good value. Good service, too. Excellent choice in Cooper-Young.

Excellent seafood. Everything was delicious. Gator eggs are done and delicious. Po boy sandwiches amazing. They do a different roumelade than traditional, but it's great!
