I've heard of this place and how good it was, but I was skeptical because I've had some great local donuts. The hype is real. The donuts they threw at us, fantastic. The donuts we bought are fantastic. The more donuts we bought to eat later are fantastic.

Not attending to customers I went there on July 5 at 6:30 a young man that works there with a Memphis state head on ignore me waiting on the other customer did not look up to acknowledge me one of the young ladies that were sitting down, looked up to wait on me Did not apologize. She knew that I was very angry, and I told her that it was very rude of him that he did not acknowledge me in the store in the business and I don’t think I’ll be coming back with rude customer service like that.

Our last morning in Memphis we decided to try this place….the atmosphere, the staff, the freshness of the donuts…UNMATCHED! We were greeted by smiling faces, thrown a fresh hot donut to catch because we were “first timers”! So glad we decided to stop in before heading back to Mobile!

My first time visit to this delightful bakery will most definitely not be my last! Welcoming smiles greet you as you enter in and are enveloped by the aroma of freshly baked treats. As a newbie I was tossed a hot donut for immediate consumption. Biting into a light, fluffy cloud of perfect goodness prompted me to purchase a dozen assorted for further “research”. Where have these been for all of my life?? Absolutely delicious, perfectly sweet; yet not overly sweet and melt in your mouth goodness! I’d post a pic but I ate them-yes all12! Next time… Promise!!

To all the Muslims and people who avoid all pig products:
Sadly, after having grown up on these donuts along with thousands of other people in the Muslim community, I can confirm that the donuts are fried in lard (pig fat).
Gibson’s was a great place to go as a late night spot. I guess if Gibsons ever feels it makes sense to change the recipe, it’d be a happy day for many of us. To those who don't have any dietary restrictions, I’d highly suggest this spot. It’s definitely a Memphis classic.

I am originally from Memphis but live in Kentucky. On Friday, February 7th, 2025 at 7:30 PM, I went to Gibsons to get tge coconut donuts and the glazed twists. I left and went back on February 8th at 12:30 PM, and triedto get the same donuts, they were out. I asked the worker when would the have more, she said the next day. Why would this place be open until Midnight but doesn't have the donuts a person wants in the middle of the day. It was very disappointing. If the business is not going to bake more product throughout the day, it shouldn't be open until Midnight. It's deceptive and misleading.
