Great service, delicious food and wonderful staff. I'm a long time customer! Thanks, Angela 🥰
Terrific place! Great for the local community!
We love Global Cafe! They are always so welcoming and willing to accommodate my dietary restrictions (vegetarian with a tomato allergy). The menu has lots of vegetarian and vegan choices. We love the Black Bean Burritos, Black Bean Tacos, Plantains, Elote and Hibiscus Tea. Their Elote is especially phenomenal! It's the best we've ever had. Then there's the Margaritas. Juan makes the best Margaritas at a very reasonable rate, but please be warned, they are STRONG. The food is always fresh and delicious. They are very aware of the ingredients in their food and are always happy to help us navigate to veggie and allergy friendly options, even offering additional accommodations when needed. We have never had a bad meal there. I love that the management truly loves and supports the community too.
Reactions by staff to a manageable situation led to a huge confrontation involving law enforcement and patrons, making the area unsafe.
Like the backstory, the food itself? Not so much. The Kuku Paka was watery and literally had no flavor, it’s unfortunate.

I have been wanting to come here since I found out about this place and finally had the chance to visit today. Unfortunately, it was disappointing. Lack of flavors, food was just bland and my rice was hard / not cooked well. I had the Pollo Guisado & it was just..bland. The Sudanese Mint Limeade was okay. I know it is supposed to be sour, but it was a bit too sour for me. In summary, food is "healthy" but too bland and would not be back here again since I can cook better at home. Chocolate flan was also a disappointment.

Every time I come here, the service and customer relations skills are usually very poor. For those reasons, I dislike coming here. But the good things I like about it are the healthier food choices & late night hours.
Great food and wonderful mission. Everything we ordered was delicious - especially the Sudanese mint limeade. Had the Peanut soup, breakfast burrito, esquites, and sambusa.

I recently visited Global Cafe, and the food instantly took me back to the comforts of home, something I’ve been craving as a Memphis transplant. The shrimp ceviche was light, flavorful, and bursting with freshness—the perfect combination of tangy lime, herbs, and juicy shrimp. The tostadas were perfectly crisp, and the creamy avocado was the kind of simple yet satisfying touch that made each bite unforgettable.
For someone who’s still finding their place in Memphis, Global Cafe offered more than just great food—it gave me a sense of belonging. The flavors and atmosphere brought back memories of home, making me feel like I’ve found a piece of it here.

Global cafe is one of my go-tos, offering a variety of recipes for many tastes and dietary restrictions. Lots to try and most of it is very flavorful.
If you like soup, the thupka soup- a spicy Nepalese chicken noodle soup- is amazing and filling. For colder days, the kuku paka can be delicious and nurturing.
For vegan/gf, the asado bowl (without meat) or the vegan bowl with avocado are quite fresh.
The pollo guisado, dama with rous, and the albóndigas give the feeling of home cooked meals.
For lighter appetites, the stuffed arepa and the street tacos (carnitas, steak, shrimp recommended) provide lighter meals.
For more exotic tastes, the elote and the African Peanut soup can be interesting to taste.
Lastly, if your over 21 and you haven't tried the cocktails, they have some basic but quite generous drinks. The Syrian sangria is the lightest and it can still pack a punch.
What er you choose, enjoy!
