Don't get me wrong the chicken is good, I have been going to Gus's for years but the locations on Mendenhall and downtown have big oversize chicken and when u pull it apart. It's stringy. I'm wondering is it lab grown chicken or is it pump with something, they never had chicken like that before.

There's thousands of reviews for this place and this one is mine... Gus's is a place that is exactly what it looks like: the epitome of Southern Fry. It really feels like you're sitting on someone's back patio while they fry up some chicken and there's no frills to be found. It's cheap, filling, greasy, fresh, and kinda boring. It is a great place to fill up a hungry crew that is looking for something that sticks to their ribs. It will be an experience, but not a culinary one.

I'd should have taken the drive to Mason, TN. Chicken was small and hard as a rock. 2 stars because the greens were actually good. Even though it was only 1oz.

I went with my son after a doctors appointment. I did not know how long we would take so I called it in. When I got there his classmates had already had lunch I didn’t want him to starve in school so he wanted to dine in. He is 6, eating in the car wasn’t an option, siting outside was not either since the heat index was 100+. The point of a restaurant is to provide good service, eat good food and be accommodated. They made it a big deal that I wanted to sit and dine. They had plenty of tables open. I didn’t even need a server. I could have cleaned my own table.. I canceled my order (that was already ready), asked to dine in. Im sure they just took my original order and put it on different plates which seems wasteful and not earth conscious. My friend went recently and they hung this new rule. It seems like the world we live in is more concerned about money money money and getting more money than caring about your customers.. I will not be back.
