Been here more times than I can count. My fiancé and I went last night, 1st time I'd been there in over 6 years. We ordered a drink, and our meals. I had the fried shrimp with mashed potatoes and a salad. She ordered the Salmon with mashed potatoes and broccoli. We had our 1st cocktails and only cocktails, as we ordered 2 more, that never arrived. Ok, not a huge deal. Our food came out, just BARELY room temperature, and I am not exaggerating, it was a step above cold. The salad, which I ordered with dressing, arrived with no dressing. Had to flag someone down to bring my dressing. No one checked back to see or ask how our meals were, nor to see if we needed anything.... like the 2nd drinks that never arrived. Absolutely 100% not the quality and service that I expect when spending $60/person... and this was 2 of the lower priced entrees. I'm not sure I'll be back, and I hate it, because they for so long were a solid place to eat. Have taken countless clients here over the past 25 years.

All white in front of the restaurant all black in the back ?
What’s up with not being able to seat more than 4 people?
This restaurant has fallen apart! I am so disappointed with this restaurant. They seem to believe that they are Michelin star ⭐️ restaurant with a Ruby Tuesday menu. Their website says their dining requirements are they prefer intimate experiences which sounds they may dabble in swinging. They no longer allow small children and you may not have more than 4 members in your party although they say they prefer 2!!! So odd!! Did Houston’s become a country club from the 1950s and forget to tell anyone? If you are so fancy, you should definitely modify the picture on your website of ribs and coleslaw. It seems you are being run by a crazy person now.

If you are a family of five, they will not seat you. They will only seat a maximum of four people to a table.

I am past retirement age therefore, I have been to my share of restaurants. This was, without a doubt, the most unpleasant dining experience I have ever had. First, the restaurant is definitely not in an upscale area and appears to be a remodeled chain restaurant building sitting in the middle of a shopping center parking lot. It's relatively close to the university and we were in town for the Tigers FB game. Our family member is on the team, and we wanted to take him for steak after the game. We heard about Houston's, saw the menu online and decided to give it a try. Unfortunately for us, the online menu did not give us all their "rules" and believe me, they let you know. First, we had 6 guests and were quickly informed they do not seat more than 4 per table and no guarantee that we would be seated near each other if we split up the party. That should have been our sign and we should have left at that point. However, we were seated at two tables next to each other with white tablecloths and paper on top, real fancy. The snooty manager or, whatever she was, came to one of our tables and asked that a ballcap be removed. Then the same little peach came to my table and informed me "no outside food or drink is allowed" because I had 1/2 bottle of water sitting on the table that I had brought in so it wouldn't get hot in the car and I would have it for the 4 hour ride home. I wasn't drinking it and had already placed my drink order (which was also water). I was told I had to get rid of the water bottle. Two of our guests ordered a salad and requested to add chicken. Well you can add chicken but, they would not put it on the salad, it had to be put in a separate dish....seriously? Even though our tables were next to each other, we had different servers but, they knew we were together. The food at our table came out and we were completely finished eating before the other table got their food. And, they kept trying to take the plates at our table before we were done eating. We got the distinct impression they wanted us to leave as our game attire did not fit with their elegant dining, even though there was no one dressed up, just casual clothes at 3:00 on Saturday afternoon. All this to say, if your rules are such a big deal that you will treat a customer that is dropping several hundred dollars to eat, maybe you might want to put your expectations on the menus that go online or at least have your hostess just say, you are not welcome here, you don't meet our dining requirements rather than let you go in, take our money and treat us like we are beneath them. As for the food, I was very underwhelmed with what I ordered, very ordinary, in my opinion, and the water I ordered was room temperature/warm with no ice. Basically, tap water. If you want ice water, they will bring you a glass of ice. If you plan on dining with them, go to their website and make sure you understand their seating policy, their dress requirements (team apparel is not appropriate for their establishment), their outside drink policy (even though that is not listed), their cell phone policy and their policy about bringing childing or how they won't accommodate special food requests. Very stuffy environment and, needless to say, we will NEVER go back.

We went to see a movie in Memphis, and there just happened to be a Houston's in the same parking lot. Great choice! Best cheeseburger I ever had! My mother had a chicken sandwich, and it was delicious! I wish there was a Houston's in Oxford. It really is a great restaurant.

Ordered a prime rib that was $62.00 for real. When they brought it out it was to small pieces of Filameno so sad for $62.00. I will never go back. If the didn’t serve prime rib they should have said so. We also had a salad and baked potato. I came out with $128.00. Never again. Left a tip anyways but wasn’t much BUT PEOPLE DONR GO ITS NOT THE GREAT HOUSTONS ANYMORE. Even the apple crum cake wasnt right I shouldn’t have paid should have walked out when they brought the steak out. Also they don’t serve bread either. If they did it would be another charge. I should have known something was wrong when the parking lot was full
Parking: No there was no problem it was the food. U need to worry about the food not the dang parking lot

We called the restaurant for a reservation for 5 people and they said they don’t take reservations for 4+ people. I asked if there was a wait for a party of 5 and the host said no there should not be a wait. We walk into the restaurant with our 5 member family and they say we cannot be seated because they don’t take parties of five. We ask to be split up and they said they can’t do that because it would be considered a “split”.. so if you have a family of 5, skip this place. Matter of fact, skip it in general because of the awful service & discrimination against families of 5 or more! Do better.

We walked in for a late lunch / early dinner around 3pm ish on a Tuesday and were surprised that they were already on a 15-min wait. We were seated within 10-15 mins, and the host took our drink orders. We received our drinks quickly, but then no server came to our table for about 10 mins or so. A young lady server saw us sort of looking around and came over to our table to help us. She became our server, and from there on out everything was great. My husband ordered the salmon and I ordered the prime rib dip. It was easily the most delicious prime rib sandwich I’ve ever had. My husband liked the salmon quite a bit as well. A manager had come to our table to apologize for the delay in service and to make sure our food was good, which we appreciated. At the end of the meal, our server informed us that they had comped our entire meal. We were genuinely shocked, and offered to pay, but she insisted that the meal be comped because they have very high standards for their service and they felt like they dropped the ball, making us wait as long as we did before ordering our food. I will say in today’s service industry, their service and hospitality was still way higher than we’ve experienced at other places, but they seem to operate on a different standard which is excellence. Two thumbs up from us, we will definitely return if we come through Memphis again in our travels!

I will never set foot in Houston’s restaurant again. My son interviewed for a position and out of gratitude for being considered for an interview he extended his hand to shake. The manager said “I decline to shake your hand”. Wow!! They continue to put patrons out if they sense that they smell like marijuana. My son witnessed that while waiting to be interviewed.
