That moment when you lock eyes with your teen son as he is asked by a server at Houston's Restaurant Memphis/Poplar Ave to remove his hat at the table and you hear yourself saying… he has cancer…because you know he doesn’t want to say it.That moment when the world kind of pauses and you see the fear and anxiety and embarrassment on your child’s face as a second server approaches the table and asks him to remove his hat as it’s a restaurant policy and you again say - he is fighting cancer.That moment when you realize yes you can certainly have lunch here and they are “sorry” for asking but will make an exception for us.That moment when you stand up and walk out proudly with your son.Love,A Proud Cancer Mom#bensmom

I came in around 6:15 pm and ordered a to go order at the bar. Service was friendly as expected. My husband has actually managed at Houston Restaurants before and I know to expect great service. I repeated my order twice to the bartender, showed him a list of my order and trusted it was correct. When I got home, my order was missing one item and another was prepared incorrectly. I called and let them know what was incorrect and that I was coming back in to pick up the items. I got back here around 7:25 and the manager let me know I wasn’t charged previously for one item and would need to pay for it. I am still waiting on my food and it is currently 7:52 pm. It stinks because this was for my husband’s birthday and he is currently at home without our food with my kids while I sit here and wait.I have been in the service industry for 20+ years and have never left a bad review. At minimum, I was hoping someone would acknowledge that I had to spend over two hours for 3 meals and dessert. The food was subpar. The whipped cream on the key lime pie was broken and had the texture of cottage cheese. The French dip was fatty and over seasoned. I am very disappointed with my experience today.

Wow. What an unpleasant experience today! I had a woozie of a day and thought that I would stop by and have a cocktail before the dinner rush. I Sat at the end of the bar by myself to unwind. My nephew called to tell me they were having their baby literally as I was finishing my drink the bartender placed a card in my face stating their policy was no cell phones at the bar. I thought it was odd she gave me one but not gentleman with the Hawaiian shirt sitting three chairs down that was on his phone as well. but she said she conviently didn't see him. I was unaware of the new rule and I respect any policy any establishment has but when she brought the manager over because I asked a question was a bit much. Again please don't cause a scene if I am not. I felt unwelcomed. There is a way to kindly and professionally state a policy without pushing a card in my face with no explanation and walking away. Houstons I am disappointed.

It had been several years since I had been to Houston's in Memphis. We celebrated my sister's birthday, and thoroughly enjoyed everything. Sheila was an outstanding server, and apparently is a fan favorite at the restaurant. She's very attentive and kind.From the cheese toast to the Hawaiian ribeye, everything was delicious!

Lighting was somewhat dim Music subdued and not too loud Booths comfortable Service was acceptable The spinach and artichoke dip was piping hot and nicely cheesy and stupendous flavor. The rotisserie chicken was moist and seasoned to perfection. Perhaps one of the best ever.

Food is always delicious, service is great, & atmosphere is laid back. Last time I visited, I was told that the loaded potato compensated for two sides. I had to pay full price for a meal, minus the extra side that I could have had. Please listen to customers sometimes! At one point the shrimp was discontinued, then the potato. When will there be a customer incentive such as happy hour? We love Houston’s, but love ❤️ us!
