This review only applies to today. I live downtown and have enjoyed H&D for years, along with my family. But today I encountered a barista with one of the nastiest condescending dismissive mocking faux-concern attitudes in a while. Ive been in service 20 yrs. I know. Don’t let that employee put a stain on an otherwise great vibe.

The avocado toast was like a creamy green boulder with an egg on it.
Im not sure whether I'm more pleased with the portion sizes or more bothered by how hard the delicious crust was to cut.
Personally I'm a huge fan of ghost papers I just didn't expect these whites to put it on their avocado toast.
Also definitely go with two sugars in the cold brew.

Pastries & coffee were amazing, the space is gorgeous and fun to be in. Staff was friendly and welcoming, butnplace was understaffed, so it was not just a long wait - I had to give up on getting a second pastry after loving the first one, because I waited for so long for anyone to jist ring me up I simply gave up and wandered off back into tje neighborhood.

This coffee shop is seriously top notch. The Bourbon Mocha is so good I can’t decide whether to sip it to last longer or chug it because it’s perfection. Their espresso mule is refreshing and delightful, perfect for a hot day.

Dietary restrictions: Gluten free cookies and alternative milk available

Wheelchair accessibility: Entrance, inside and bathrooms appear wheelchair accessible and I see someone here in one navigating easily.

Amazing ambiance, cool and knowledgeable baristas
I did not like the way the coffee is roasted: too bitter for my taste.
And the two cups we had (latte and cappuccino) tasted very different

SIX STARS !
Though note : it isn't called this anymore but it's in the same place.

I had one of their special mochas and it was one of the best coffees I've had ! My dad and I were on the road and after drinking our coffees and getting in the car to leave, we decided to go back to do it all over again. The aesthetic was obviously exquisite. The scene of downtown was lovely. The ingredients and care was apparent. Everyone seemed very delighted to be there.
Wish there was a pocket sixth star !
All the food walking by looked great as well.
THEN, my dad was researching the place while we got driving and we learned the story of the business and it's owner and that made us want to give a seventh star.

This used to be me and my GF favorite spot in Memphis to come on the weekends. But I am not sure if they changed the chef and baristas because the food and coffee is not what it used to be.

French toast came not cooked and without the salt which used to make it special. I ordered a cappuccino and they gave me a late in the cup of a cappuccino, BLT bread came not toasted. It’s been like these for the last few visits. I am just a little disappointed that when I moved to Memphis 3 years ago it was always perfect (coffee and food), and I can say it because I used to come twice a week and the place was full. Now the place is empty and it is a lottery 50 / 50 if they do it good or wrong.

I hope they can make it as it used to be again…

We stopped in for breakfast and coffee on a Monday morning in August while visiting Memphis. The coffee was good. The food was good as well. The baristas were friendly. The atmosphere was easygoing and bright. Very cool coffee shop, I am glad we found it.

Parking: It was easy enough to find a spot

Nice vibe but not super accommodating places to sit if you’re trying to juggle coffee and food. Basic coffee drinks. $30
For two lattes, a scone and slice of avocado toast.

We will not visit again. My daughter is a ST Jude patient. We wanted to surprise the team at the hospital for all of the amazing work they have done for countless kids around the world, including saving the life of our daughter. The lady at the counter told me they can only sell me 10 pastries. I told her why I was getting them and she shook her head and repeated the same message. I asked her if I could buy ten and then come back a few times and buy more, she said sure. I left this heartless place and will never return. We are only here for one day. I would have called ahead if I was familiar with the business. They had plenty of pastries out for sale.

Coffee is ok. The Brussels salad is divine, other than that the service is pretty poor and comes with an unfriendly attitude! Stayed at arrive hotel for the weekend and it was the same unhelpful attitude by the same person the whole time! Kinda made my time in the lounge rather unpleasant to be surrounded by negative energies!!
