This was my first time coming, and I will say it won't be the last. I drove 25-30 minutes to come check this place out due to me seeing the video with Mr.Chimetime..... I am already thinking about my next plate for tomorrow. 🥴🤔 I got the medium size jerk chicken pasta, it wasn't too spicy it was just right, the seasoning and whatever that sauce drizzled on top was mouth watering. I wanna try something else. My order was freshly made.

I've visited Jamaica 6 times and each time I crave jerk chicken. I've tried varies places in Memphis and some come this 🤏 to tasting like Jamaica. Well, while driving down Summer, Island Paradise caught my eye. I ordered the large jerk chicken plate. The order was ready in 5 minutes. The plate was HEAVY! The plate had 4-5 pieces of jerk chicken, plantains(1st time trying), rice & peas and cabbages. EVERYTHING.... I mean EVERYTHING was amazing! I had enough food to eat some now and some tomorrow. The food remind me of my 4th home (Miami, Cancun, Chicago) & Jamaica.

The owner I believe at the establishment very chill guy and patient with you if your looking for something that will have you walking in circles and break dancing in your kitchen this that kind of food. I've been forgetting to give this man a review on his food and service ??♂️SO the oxtail dinner is AWESOME!! The sauce is exactly like I like it. Not to thick and not to thin. The seasoning on the cabbage & rice as well is phenomenal ? I really don't like plantains but they are GOOD! So if you're looking for good quality food go see him on summer avenue because you'll be satisfied ???Some People complain about wait times and service in the reviews but I've never experienced that??♂️ It's a food truck not restaurant with several employees ??♂️

Food is amazing and has full flavor! I personally did not mind the wait. Remember it’s a food truck! He had around 5-6 other customers and I received my food in 20 minutes. It is best to order once you get there for time and not online where there is no true promised time. You won’t be disappointed.

I have been a loyal supporter of Island Paradise since the early days when the food truck was parked outside the owner's house, with his children playing basketball nearby. That was at least five years ago, and the food was delicious then and remains so. However, I am deeply disappointed by the way the business is currently managed.
As a long-time customer, I feel disrespected by the owner’s lack of regard for his patrons and their time. His actions suggest a lack of respect for his own company and its future. My last visit was a year ago, during which I waited over an hour for my order, but I was understanding given he was operating alone.
Today, however, was the final straw. After seeing an Instagram post stating he would be at his designated location on Summer Ave from 12:30-7pm, I placed an order online. I arrived at 12:47, but he was not there. Upon calling, he assured me he would arrive in 15 minutes. Despite confirming my order, he failed to notify me of any delays. After waiting until 1:30 and being sent to voicemail repeatedly, it was clear he was screening my calls. When I finally reached him by blocking my number, he still seemed unprepared and at home. I requested a refund, which I am uncertain I will receive, based on past experiences.
It pains me to criticize a black-owned business, especially during Juneteenth month, but this behavior is why people hesitate to support such businesses. The owner frequently fails to meet commitments, creating inconvenience and frustration. It is crucial to advertise accurate business hours and refrain from accepting online orders if unable to fulfill them promptly.
I have promoted this business to friends and family, who have also complained about long wait times. I overlooked these issues out of understanding, but today’s experience was unacceptable. I urge potential customers to verify the food truck’s presence before placing online orders to avoid wasting time and gas.
The owner needs to implement a better system and improve communication with customers. If these issues persist, it might be better not to operate at all. Customers deserve to have their time and money respected, regardless of the business’s ownership.
