I recently interviewed for a position at J. Alexander’s, and I wanted to share my experience. While I was excited about the opportunity to join the team, I was disappointed by the lack of communication following my interview.

Despite being told I would receive an update by the end of the week, I had to reach out myself to learn that they had moved forward with another candidate. I believe that timely and transparent communication is essential during the hiring process, and I felt this could have been handled better.

Overall, I appreciated the environment and the professionalism during the interview itself. However, I hope that J. Alexander’s can improve their communication practices for future candidates.

Love J.Alexander's and I usually just get a salad to go but this time I also ordered the Steak & fries. TOTALLY DISAPPOINTED! My steak had hair on it?

The last time we went here we were severely disappointed in both food and service, but this visit was a total change. The food was perfectly prepared… We had rotisserie chicken and trout. They even delayed one because it wasn’t perfect but explained. I can’t say what a huge improvement it was! Something changed and we look forward to returning

So I ordered my food togo over the phone and I arrived before it was ready, which is totally fine. However, she wanted me to pay right then so I did, but when the food came out she wouldn't just hand it to me. She kept on doing everything else, a whole bunch of little little things that she used as excuses to not just simply hand me my food. She had time to stop doing all those little random nothings when she wanted me to pay, but after I paid, she ignored me. Pretending like she didn't see my food when the other lady brung it and signaled to her that it was here and the other guy back there with her behind the bar saw it as it got brung out as well. They both kept on communicating secretly, both refusing to simply just hand me the food. But the lady, 20 something, white, 5'3 blonde kinda curly hair, was the one who I was dealing with, who received my payment. But I just kept on standing there patiently, not making a fuss, not choosing to walk back behind the bar and simply taking WHAT I ALREADY PAID FOR. Finally, I caught her looking at me as if trying to see what I was going to do, if I was upset or not. When she realized that I wasn't going to put on a show, she decided to go ahead and give it to me then. If you have it in you to try and hurt someone who hasn't done anything to you, then that means that you were already upset. I'm not your boyfriend, I didn't cheat on you. Don't do it to me, do it to him, because I don't deserve it. 8/30/24 approximately 11:10am

Food was great as always. Service was not what we’re used to here. We haven’t been in awhile since moving to Germantown (J’s was our Friday lunch every week… we called it our martini lunch) service was very slow and lacking of the basics (limited table touches, missing condiments, etc) I will say our bartender/server had a very needy table that required much of her time but there was plenty of staff to make this less than an *hour and a half* long lunch. We waited to order our second round of martinis and the option came long after when we could have fit it in and were just ready to head out.

Overall the servers are not quite as polished as what we are accustomed to. They seem very fresh and not up to “J’s” standards.

I haven't been here in 20 years since moving from the area, and the food and service were still spot on. I had the swordfish and it was amazing. The calamari appetizer and the spinach cheese dip were also great. Service was wonderful. Will be back.

Sat at the bar. The one bartender was more interested in shooting the breeze with some regular than paying attention to all patrons in her work station. Very poor.

This is the 1st time my drink wasn't good. I get the same one every time I go, but this one was not good at all. The service was still good, and the atmosphere was good. All in all, I'll give it 4 stars ?. We got the redlands salads with grilled chicken to eat.
