Perfect spot for a date night. Great food tucked away from the hustle & bustle of downtown. We enjoyed the unique shareable dishes, the cozy atmosphere, and the friendly staff.

My husband and I ate @jemdining for the first time tonight. Hands down the best meal we have had in Memphis, and on par with top restaurants in much bigger cities. The vibe is very different from anywhere we have eaten in Memphis (think small hip NY restaurant) and the food was truly outstanding. We had the adobo short ribs and the matzoh ball stuffed chicken. We can’t wait to eat here again. The service was excellent and the chef was not only cooking but delivering food and meeting all the guests.

This is a great place to dine with friends and family.
The food is excellent and very tasty.
The staff and owners are beautiful spirited people. They treat you like family.
It is a very clean place and they give you new utensils for each course.
You can see the chef cooking your food if you so desire.
The bathroom is extremely nice and clean.
The bar is awesome and great cocktails.
I can say more, but I would suggest everyone experience JEM for yourself.
It's a very unique dining experience.

Fantastic restaurant with a focus on modern food. The menu draws inspiration from across the world, mixing flavors and techniques not commonly brought together. The hamachi crudo was garnished with both charred okra, a typically southern or West African, and Japanese pickled peppers creating a wonderful and unique flavor. The cocktail list was short , offering 2 alcoholic options and one without. Wine, whiskey, and sake lists were also available; however, the emphasis certainly seemed to be more on the food than the drinks. And that can be seen in how the restaurant is laid out. From the kitchen is separated from the dining food by glass with a low top bar for seating looking directly in. You can see the kitchen from nearly all tables of the restaurant and especially well from the high top bar. The restaurant is set in an old concrete building that’s been completely remodeled but still retains some of its old charm, fitting into the rest of the Edge District. It’s not exceptionally large but feels spacious because they’ve left ample space between tables in the dining room instead of packing them as close together as possible. There’s also a parking lot next door which was convenient. While enjoying our dinner, we noticed the chefs making some epic looking desserts so we grab a slice of cake to go and it did not disappoint. Our bartender, Nick, was very attentive and took good care of us. Only complaint is that I wish they were located in the south main area. Overall and top notch dining experience and extremely reminiscent of the old Gray Canary restaurant that used to be on in the Old Dominick building.

My friend and I visited this restaurant tonight for the first time and we were thoroughly impressed. The staff were very friendly! (Shoutout Bobby and Chef)
We loved the unique food selection and pairings. We started with the crab and shrimp dip… Unreal! We also shared the brussel salad and it was amazing!!! All of the flavors blended together so nicely. We also shared the double cheeseburger with wedge fries and it was truly delicious. We finished with espresso martinis and the bread pudding. The bread pudding was to die for and had a twist unlike others.

We highly recommend this restaurant!

JEM is seriously a new gem for Memphis. Every bite is not only delicious but it makes my mind think about the lovely combination of flavors that I have not experienced up until having a meal here. It's clear there is a lot of love and care crafted into the experience here. Wonderfully inventive food, excellent service, JEM is an instant staple for Memphis' elevated dining scene!

If you haven’t been to Jem yet, do it before you can’t get a reservation. I have to say, it’s the best restaurant in town right now and not to be missed. Every dish was perfection, and we had just about everything on the menu. Pictured is the crudo, seafood dip, gnocchi and matzo chicken. We also ordered all the desserts, which were impeccable, particularly the mousse. The space is beautiful, minimalist and comfortable. They also have a full bar with a great wine list. On top of all that, the service was excellent, Ebony took such great care of us. You can’t go wrong, get there asap and enjoy!

I’ve dined here several times and only have great things to say! The casual atmosphere is perfect for grabbing a drink and appetizer after work. For dinner, my girlfriend and I usually share 2-3 appetizers or small plates along with one entrée, or we opt for a single appetizer and two entrées. Don't skip dessert-- the chocolate cake is not a lie ;)

Vegetarian options: There are a handful of really excellent vegetarian options. The chef is also very accommodating so don't hesitate to communicate your dietary restrictions!

Dietary restrictions: The staff and chef are very accommodating so don't hesitate to communicate your dietary restrictions!

Parking: There is an adjacent parking lot with approximately 30 spaces.

Wheelchair accessibility: Handicap parking is available. Easy access and up-to-date facilities.

We were pleasantly surprised by the meal we had at JEM. The standout menu items for us were the arancini and the gnocchi, but the porchetta and the matzo ball stuffed chicken were also quite good. Everything was very flavorful and the portion sizes were adequate. We also had a mousse cake (pictured) and a bread pudding for dessert, both of which were quite tasty.

The only complaint I have is the noise level. The space is pretty open with hard surfaces, and people's voices carried quite a bit.

I have eaten twice at this new addition to the Edge District neighborhood! I have thoroughly enjoyed all of the food I have tried so far - including the crab/shrimp dip, the yeast rolls, the arancini, the brussels salad, the burger, and the matzo ball stuffed chicken. The menu is small, but I really like that because everything on the focused menu is done really well with tons of attention to detail. The first time I visited, we had a table for four on one of their very first nights of service, and we had a very intimate and enjoyable dinner with an absolutely outstanding server named Lindsay. The second time I visited, we had a table for 10, and the staff helped us celebrate some birthdays with incredible service and delicious food. This is the perfect spot to celebrate date night or a fun night out. There is a cozy lounge area up front and a nice bar, and the atmosphere is modern and upscale without feeling stuffy or uninviting. I will absolutely be back and I can't wait to attend one of their wine dinners!

Parking: There is a parking lot to the left of the building that is free for Jem and Rootstock Wine Merchants customers. If you are heading west on Madison, it is just past the 644 Madison building where Jem and Rootstock are. There is also ample street parking available for free.

Myself and two friends ate there for the first time a month ago. The drinks and the food were excellent. The server really knew the menu and helped us decide what we wanted. The owner stopped by to say hello. There’s really nothing to like about this “Gem” of a restaurant.
