Went to restaurant with girlfriends. Upon entering the restaurant we were met by the bartender flipping us off.. NOT a good way to greet people as they walk in.... such a bad vibe, we ended up leaving and having our meal elsewhere.. Will NEVER go back again

We went down Beale Street looking for somewhere to eat lunch. We were surprised at how quiet it was there. We went into King's Palace cafe and ordered drinks as we were planning to eat lunch there. When using the restroom, I glanced into the kitchen and was not impressed by what I saw. The standards of hygiene wasn't what I would expect. The who venue had a very run down feel. We made our excuses and left to find an alternative

On entering we were the only people in there . While waiting for drinks to arrive we googled the establishment and were shocked by the reviews , a couple of us went to the toilet , passing the kitchen and on returning to the table we all agreed to leave the restaurant and look for somewhere else . The kitchen had looked very grim .

I can’t really rate the food as our party decided to leave after reading some reviews as we were waiting for our drinks . We noticed the “ kitchen” on our way to the toilet which didn’t fill us with joy either . There was just a complete absence of anyone in there which should have in its self told us everything we needed to know . We drunk our drinks and left , and visited instead the blue’s city cafe which was AMAZING. Food served super quick and of a high standard , and every table was in use .

Not what I remember. Has gone a bit downhill. Chicken wasn't cleaned properly.

Kings Palace Cafe's Absinthe Room. I really liked this place, although somehow I'm just giving it 4 stars. Wandering around Beale street, fairly late, no way I'm not going into a place called Kings Palace Cafe's Absinthe Room. This is upstairs above the King's Palace cafe. Interesting absinthe collection, and wonderful atmosphere. I didn't have any food or anything else. It wasn't very crowded, at least while we were there. Slightly out of the way and very cool. Tried to play pool and there were not enough balls, and some duplicates, and no one to really help out. But after a few absinthe drinks, that turned out to be perfectly fine.

I’ve eaten at tons of places and tried countless amounts of food. The kings palace had the best gumbo I’ve ever had, albeit I’ve never been to New Orleans, so far, I must say it would be hard to beat. Everywhere else on Beale street just has wings and beer, I’m sure there’s somewhere else good to go, but I don’t think I’ll ever try anything else. Best food and everything, if you go a night they have someone singing in there, can’t be matched by anything and I’d choose a night there over a lot of things, give it a chance, you won’t regret it

Came here for dinner while in town for vacation. We had fried green tomatoes to start and they are SUPERB! Must try! Added the horseradish and hot sauce for a little extra flair. Yum! I had the gumbo and my husband had Cajun chicken fettuccine for dinner. My gumbo was delightful. Would definitely recommend. The fettuccine was good, he says was not spicy so he added some heat. The bread served with my gumbo was beyond enough for both of us to share! If you leave hungry you did it wrong! The waitress was very friendly, sadly we never got her name. Overall very good!! Pricey meal, but probably expect that for any meal on Beale Street. Easy to miss this little gem in the middle of the block but recommend stopping in!

Carol (I think ...) took WONDERFUL care of us at lunch!! Delicious catfish po'boy, blackened chicken sandwich, and chicken fingers ... and fresh made sweet tea! Food and service - could not be beat!!!

Not busy. We were the only ones there, so we got taken care of good. We were able to get a gluten free salad with grilled chicken. Also got another chicken salad with crispy chicken. Both were very tasty and filling for us. Staff member was extra friendly.

Love to Travel

Everything about this place is enjoyable. We came for lunch and the atmosphere is relaxing and interesting. The service is top notch! Our server was so friendly, funny, and truly gave us a taste of the Southern Hospitality! The fried green tomatoes are excellent and the gumbo is the best I’ve had in a long time. The chicken wings were just like our server told us, 4 great big delicious wings! If you go to Beale street this is a must stop! The food was good, made fresh, and the beer was cold. We will definitely go again the next time we are in Memphis!
