So, I have taken a few days to think and calm down about this. I have decided to write my "review" of Lafayette's Music Room from Saturday night (my birthday party). Let me start with I have been going to Lafayette's Music Room for the past several years as it has been my favorite place to go see live music and eat. They have the best menu and you just can't go wrong with any item on it. The place is nice, clean and with beautiful people but my main draw has always been the staff.. Over the years I have come to know the managers, bartenders and servers. ALL are/were wonderful people. I have always been able to park at the front door (don't ask) which made me feel safe as a single female in mid-town. I made friends with my favorite bartenders so I always had my favorite spot in the corner and out of the way (which is what I prefer). I know most of the bands that play there and soo many friends who have attended the shows have loved the place as well. Past managers (you know who you are) made Lafayette's Music Room "the place to be" with their kindness, presents and eye for detail. All of the above is the reason I chose to have my birthday party there with friends and family and one of my fav bands. This is how the night went... 1. I reserved my table of 4 weeks in advance with a request to be on the floor up front closest to the dance floor. We instead were seated right by the door, mind you the temp Saturday night was below freezing. All of my guest sat through the entire dinner/night with coats and gloves on. The table I originally reserved was empty. I asked if we could move since it is empty and it was my original request. I was told NO, it is reserved. This was about 7:30 pm. That table sat empty until 9:30 when 3 young males walked over and sat down at it. I asked out of curiosity if they had reserved the table to which they replied no, we just sat down since it was empty. We stayed at our table the remainder of the night, gloves, coats etc, 2. It took 20 minute or so to get served. Once our first order was taken it took another 25 minutes to get drinks. Finally received our food (which was delicious). Throughout the remainder of the night we sat and waited for drinks or service of any kind. We asked other servers for help, nothing. Once we received drinks they were watered down to the point of no taste whatsoever. It took 30 to 40 minutes of my guest with no drink at all and looking around for any help. I heard several of my guest say "I guess there will be no hangovers tomorrow and not even a buzz of any kind". My birthday are always filled with fun, dancing and partying til it is time to call it a night. There was non of that. Some danced a few times but the rest of the night was sitting and waiting for service. 3. My friend and her husband came a little later, he ordered 7 shots of Don Julio (my fav). Took some time but they came. I asked for an OJ back, never came. When my friend got his check the 7 shots of Don was on his tab, so they paid and left. Once we had our fill of sitting, waiting etc. We asked for our checks. My girlfriend was given her check which included mine along with 7 SHOTS OF DON JULIO!!! We finally got the servers attention and explained she had just tapped out my friend who paid for the tequila. She proceeded to get the manager HEATHER, my brother explained the situation to her, she responded with I am going to take care of the tab THIS TIME! (I am still not sure how to take that, THIS TIME??). I thanked her, we loaded up gifts etc. and headed home. About halfway home I get a call from Lafayettes, first words spoken was YOU WALKED OUT ON YOUR TAB!! . I explained the situation, the girl stated HEATHER told her we walked out. I turned around and went back. My brother went in and spoke with Heather, he said you told us you were taking care of the tab. She said no I'll take the Don Julios off ( that would had been fine since that was the issues to begin with but don't say you will take care of the tab instead o

My husband's company rented the entire place for their Christmas party and we enjoyed it immensely! We were treated extremely well, all the staff was incredibly nice and I feel like they went well above and beyond any expectations! Appetizers were served as we enjoyed drinks before our meal. The food was delicious, and served very fast... it was delicious. We were treated to a band after dinner and we danced until the end of the party. I highly recommend Lafayette's for any occasion, it's a good time for sure!

Wonderful place to share good moments.

I would give 0 stars if I could because I can’t even leave a review of the food. We were seated immediately upon arrival to a dining room that was full of empty tables. And then were never acknowledged again. No one ever came to get our drink order. Multiple wait staff walked past us without ever acknowledging our existence. I was going to walk up to the bar to order our drinks, but the bartender disappeared as well. After 20 minutes, we got up and left and were never acknowledged on the way out by the hostess who seated us. We went next door to Babalu’s and had a wonderful experience, great food and service.

New Year’s Eve or Just a Very Expensive Card Table Experience?

I wish I could say my 3rd New Year’s Eve experience at Lafayette’s was a blast, but unfortunately, it was more like a cruel joke dressed in glitter. The good news? The service was friendly, the music was great, and the food was fantastic. But for $56 cover per person, you'd expect a little more than that, right?

Let's start with the basics: $56 PER PERSON just to get in—and for that price, we were given the honor of sitting at card tables with metal chairs. Yep, you read that right—card tables. If I wanted to spend my evening cramped in a tiny space with barely any room to move, I could’ve stayed at home.

In years past they passed out hor d'oeuvres through the evening. This year? Nope.

Oh, and remember how New Year’s Eve is supposed to feel festive? I guess 8 balloons in a half-hearted “balloon drop” counts as a party, if you’re into sad, underwhelming moments. Also, no brightly lit party favors to help you pretend you’re in Times Square.

And the cherry on top? Champagne—oh, they waited until the very last second to pass it out, so those of us at the front of the room (basically the first in line for the countdown) got nothing to toast with when the clock struck midnight. Not that it mattered much with the whole sardine-packed, lackluster vibe.

So, again—what exactly was the $112 cover charge for? Because if I’m paying for an experience plus the cost of food and drink, I expect a little more than just a good playlist and tasty snacks. Save your money and hit up a dive bar instead, where at least you’ll have some elbow room.

Music, food, and service were all good.

The restaurant and music were amazing. The only reason I’m giving three stars is because our server Kevin was absolutely horrible. He had the worst attitude from the beginning. After he took our drink order he took 15+ minutes to come back for our order. As we’re a family of servers I understand being busy. No problem. When he came back to take the order he got annoyed we asked for a few modifications and went to get something to write one. When we went to get a pen and paper we saw him slamming things and being visibly annoyed. Food came out wrong of course, not entirely his fault. But when it came to the check we simply said the food on the gray card and the drinks on the green card. He did it opposite and when we said that was wrong he argued with us. He will be the only reason me and my family may be hesitant to come back.

Very good music, chill, and relaxing vibe with live shows. I enjoyed the visit but this is not a place to go if you're looking for a big dinner. The portions are small, but the flavor will make up for the size. Even the drinks are divine, I've never had a lemonade with so much flavor, not too sweet or anything, just fantastic flavor. If I go back anytime soon, I'm definitely looking forward to that lemonade.
